Slow Down On Campus Roads Message

Slow Down On Campus Roads Message

To quote famous Australian race car driver Dick Johnson: “It’s a road – not a racetrack”.

Please slow down when using our on-campus roads, with young children and busy facilities and maintenance staff, criss-crossing these routes all the time.

With the new drop-off and pick-up area for Years 5 and 6 students over near the pool, and our Aquatic, Tennis & Athletics Centre getting busier every week – please be especially careful along our Sports Precinct access road.

Our signed campus speed limit is 10kph so please take your time getting around our College grounds to help keep everyone safe… THANK YOU!

First Canterbury Business Network Breakfast Wrap For 2022

First Canterbury Business Network Breakfast Wrap For 2022

Last Friday morning saw the first Canterbury Business Network Breakfast for 2022.

Those who attended were privileged to hear Peter Maddock - Director of Business Services at the Office of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner (QSBC), speaking about the very practical assistance and advocacy the QSBC can offer Logan's small businesses.

Peter also spoke at length about the support the QSBC can offer businesses affected by the recent flood event such as:

BizRebuild Vouchers
Small Business Recovery Packages
Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) Loans
Disaster Assistance Loans.

The Office of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner has hand-picked the good stuff and sorted it according to relevance to small business:

  • Low interest loans, grants or rebates.
  • Services such as legal support - FREE or almost FREE!
  • Health and wellbeing.
  • For employers.
  • Training and skills.
  • Resources and tools.

2022 Trimester 1 Sport: TAS Round 7 & JTAS Round 4 - Canterbury vs Ormiston Results! ⚽️

2022 Trimester 1 Sport: TAS Round 7 & JTAS Round 4 - Canterbury vs Ormiston Results! ⚽️

Here is your Monday TAS and Junior TAS Sport Results Wrap from Round 7 and Round 4 respectively...

After two weekends of crazy weather and unplayable sporting conditions, our Taipans were back in action, and we were finally able to host our FIRST Home Round for 2022 - against those Ormiston Redbacks.

Our recent results show how much we have progressed this season, despite numerous pandemic and severe weather disruptions.

Some highlights from Saturday's sport round against Ormiston College:

Our Girls Basketball with seven wins from eight matches, and Boys Volleyball with seven wins from ten matches, enjoyed great results across Saturday.

And the energy at these matches was fantastic!

Our First XI Cricket team were just three balls off batting for a whole innings.

A special shout-out to Josh W who batted through the entire Canterbury innings.

Our Intermediate 1 cricket team won in the last over, Intermediate 2 were also victorious, while our Intermediate 3 cricket team lost with only two balls to go.

All four cricket sides are showing great improvement, and most importantly, working well together as a team unit.

Our Girls Tennis team showed improvement from last year's results against Ormiston College.

Thank you to those Senior players who came early to support our younger tennis players in action.

Our Girls Football teams were a stand out with a good 2-1 win, good 2-2 draw and narrow 0-1 loss!

The hard work our students put in at weekly training definitely showed on the field this week.

Keep up the great work girls!

Thank you also to all the Canterbury swimmers who attended our Internal Swim Meet last Friday, where we had over 80 competitors!

Thank you to all our parents and students who came out to support our Taipans at our FIRST Home Round of the season too.

We have two more rounds of TAS and Junior TAS sport for this Trimester to go... Train hard Taipans!

College Closed Friday 4 March - Remote Learning In Place

College Closed Friday 4 March - Remote Learning In Place

Dear Canterbury Community,

In response to the Premier’s decision to close all schools in South-East Queensland tomorrow, Canterbury has also made the decision to close its campus, and will conduct remote learning on Friday 4 March instead.

All students in Prep to Year 12 have learning materials ready to go on MyCC or Teams for Friday.

Online synchronous lessons for a full five period day will be scheduled for Secondary School.

We will be offering a supervised program for students in ELC to Year 6 tomorrow on-site, for the children of essential workers.

Here is Junior School's Online Registration Form for this service.

Camp Australia will also be offering an OSHC service for families who require it - Camp Australia (OSHC): 0403 246 289.

Unfortunately, our first home round of TAS Sport against St Columban’s and our various JTAS Hockey and Cricket fixtures have also been cancelled.

Logan's weather conditions for Friday look uncertain, with weather reports conflicting and slightly ambiguous.

However, if there are storm and rain fronts coming through, please stay safe and off the roads.

Kind regards

Dan Walker

College Principal
