How to Enrol

In support of your application, the following are required:

  • Copy of Passport
  • Previous 2 years of academic transcripts (Evidence of English language ability is required.)
  • Interview in person or via Skype.
  • Confirmation that Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirements have been met.

CRICOS Courses

Canterbury accepts enrolments from International Students in the following CRICOS registered courses:

We offer the following International Programs:

Canterbury College offer full immersion programs for individual students seeking a longterm Australian educational experience in an exceptional independent school.

Students will study the Queensland curriculum and participate in the co-curricular opportunities on offer alongside Canterbury students, experiencing an Australian lifestyle through meals, day trips and conversation with homestay families.

Please note: Students in Year 7-12 will be offered homestay accommodation with our exceptional host families. Students in Prep-Year 6 will require parent/guardian supervision in privately-arranged accommodation.

Academic Programs

Canterbury College’s international students have superior academic achievement in comprehensive programs.

Guidance is received from the Head of House, Dean of Students, Dean of Studies, Careers Counsellor and Heads of Faculties. This support empowers students to maximise their achievements at school preparing them for and advising on tertiary studies.

Canterbury offers the following to assist in optimising academic outcomes:

Applied Literacy is a specialist subject for international students dedicated to improving English skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking for use across all subjects.

ESL English is generally compulsory and the remaining four subjects are chosen from:

Canterbury offers Short Term Study Abroad programs for individual international students aged 12 years and over to experience our Australian way of life in beautiful Queensland.

Students will live and study alongside Australian students in the safe and friendly Canterbury community.

Students enrol on a Visitor’s Visa and experience Canterbury life for one term (9 to 10 weeks).

Students participate in an immersion program studying Queensland curriculum subjects with English language support if required.

Transport to and from the College is provided by the homestay family for these short experiences.

We offer:

  • Experience Australian lifestyle through family meals, day trips and conversation.
  • Practice English in a relaxed, supportive homestay family atmosphere.
  • Enjoy a comfortable, clean and private room.
  • Receive three nutritious meals a day and snacks as required.

Canterbury welcomes International school groups to visit the campus on a study tour, from one day to two weeks’ duration.

Study Tour students have an opportunity to become involved in the life of our Australian school community within the framework of the College’s timetable.

Our objectives are to:

  • develop a student’s English language skills,
  • provide an opportunity for visiting students to experience Australian culture,
  • provide an opportunity for visitors to share their culture with Australian students.

Each Study Tour incorporates essentials such as English tuition, integration and immersion in the classroom with Australian students, cultural awareness, a homestay accommodation experience and tourism excursions.
