Junior School

Canterbury’s Junior School is a dynamic, energetic and caring environment that places the child at the forefront of everything we do.

We follow the Australian Curriculum, with our students’ Literacy and Numeracy skills being explicitly taught and developed by our expert staff.

We are committed to ensuring our pedagogical practices align with the Science of Learning.

As part of this, our staff are trained in evidence-based literacy instruction in order to maximise student outcomes and achievement.

Our high-quality curriculum ensures that our teaching and learning program is rigorous and enjoyable, offering specialist lessons in Spanish, Music, Digital Technology and Physical Education.

The College has a strong commitment to the development of values and behaviours that foster the growth of independent and resilient children.

The importance of supporting our children to build strong and positive relationships is something we embed within our Wellbeing Blueprint.

Canterbury teams from Years 4-6 participate in the Junior TAS (The Associated Schools) independent schools sport competition on Saturday mornings.

We are an inclusive community that promotes high expectations and supportive relationships, allowing our children to develop in character and to aspire to be the best they can be.
