Canterbury Netball Academy

The Canterbury Netball Academy offers a holistic approach to the sport. Through curriculum, competition and community engagement, students have the capacity to choose multiple pathways within the sport.

Canterbury have been Netball Queensland Award Finalists for 4 consecutive years 2017-2020 and were announced as “Netball School of the Year” for the 2018 season. In 2021, our Director of Netball, Mrs Deanne Hamilton, was named the Netball Queensland “Spirit of Netball” award winner, for her tireless commitment to the game as an administrator, leader, coach, umpire and player.

Canterbury has gone from strength to strength in the TAS competition with multiple premierships in recent years. Our Vicki Wilson Shield team have medalled in every year of competition culminating with a Gold Medal in 2019. Our high performance athletes travel annually to the prestigious QISSN competition. Winning the Candace Adams Trophy in 2019 has elevated the team into the top division for 2020 and beyond.
Students have access to online and face to face coaching accreditation. Young coaches are supported by mentors as they work through the accreditation process.
Supported by online assessment and local association badging systems, our students can choose to be involved in officiating netball across our TAS competitions and events.
Netball is an elective subject for Year 9 and 10 students. Within the course, students engage in skill development, game analysis and online accreditation modules.
Canterbury players are actively engaged within the wider netball community at club, representative, regional and state level.
