My start at Canterbury has been amazing. All the teachers and students are so helpful and supportive, I love it here. It is great to be given a device and I enjoy using the stylus for writing. My favourite subjects so far are Drama and Philosophy and I have joined the netball team and dance group.”  Elissa

Emu Gully Camp

Year 7 camp is held over 3 days at Emu Gully.  This camp focuses on the development of House spirit, teamwork and resilience.

Here the students are required to become more self-sufficient, cook their own meals and sleep independently in their own tents.  Students have to work cooperatively in House groups to navigate physically, and at times emotionally, demanding scenarios, learning to rely on their team mates.

Camp was the best, a great experience, I loved all the challenges. I am on the basketball and netball teams and my favourite subject so far was Food and Hospitality as I have learnt how to cook fried eggs to make at home for my family on weekends.Monique

Canterbury recognises the significance of Year 7 as a foundation for a student’s transition and entry into Secondary Schooling. With a pastoral care approach established on compassion, community and respect, the vision is to strengthen this significant milestone for a Year 7 student.

Vertical form classes provide a safe, caring and supportive learning environment championed by enthusiastic pastoral care staff who help students build their confidence through strong positive relationships with peers and adults.

Being in a form class with Year 12s is great. My favourite place to hang out with my friends is the Secondary Library, and we use the interactive screens.Locklann
