Singing our hearts out in every language!✨
At Tuesday lunchtime during this Languages Week, we had a blast with multilingual karaoke in our normally hushed and muted Senior School Library.

Our Years 10-12 students benefitted from this excellent opportunity to talk with industry experts directly onsite, ask any questions and gather information on apprenticeships and traineeships. ⛑✨
MIGAS works closely with Canterbury College, as one of only a handful of schools, to help any interested students with their post-schooling pathways.
MIGAS covers Engineering, Electrical, Automotive, Construction and Green Apprenticeships along with various Traineeships. ⚙️☀️

Canterbury Kitchen Garden | It's Weeding Time!
https://youtu.be/wx3OYtWIEnU
After the long Christmas Holiday break, our Campus Kitchen Garden was in need of some TLC from our younger students.
Under the guidance of Mr Penny, students from Prep to Year 4 cleared away all the weeds, preparing the soil for the next big round of planting.
A BIG ‘thank you’ goes out to all these students who got their hands dirty in this project.
We can’t wait to see all the new plants and crops throughout 2024…

2024 Annual Canterbury College St John’s Cathedral City Service | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery
On Tuesday morning our Years 5-12 students were all bussed into Brisbane's CBD for our Annual Canterbury College St John’s Cathedral City Service.
It was a special time for school unity, personal reflection and gratitude, as we celebrated our shared values, while deepening our College's connection to Brisbane's ‘mother church’ for all Anglicans in our region.
This major event was held much earlier this year to incorporate our inaugural Senior Ties and Year 7 House Badges Presentation Ceremonies as part of this important service.
The Right Reverend John Roundhill joined our wonderful College Chaplain Father Dan Talbot to bless our Year 7 students' House Badges and Year 12 students' Senior Ties - marking a key milestone in their educational journey.
As part of this acknowledgment, our Year 7s and Year 12s also enjoyed a Cathedral Tour led by Father Dan, exploring its rich history and admiring its intricate stained-glass windows.
A big 'Thank You' to all who joined us for this memorable occasion - especially the 40 parents, carers and non-Canterbury siblings - our biggest family attendance for quite some time.
Next year we might pray for cooler and less humid summer conditions!

Semester 2, 2023 Spark Topic | That's Constructive
For centuries, furniture and household accessories were made using a wide variety of wood.
With the introduction of plastics and other synthetic materials, the true art of furniture making has been lost.
It’s time to step back into the ‘good ole days’ and use our hands to make household items and furniture again.
Let’s put on some protective gear and glasses and get our hands dirty!
In this subject, students design and create useful and purposeful furniture solutions.

What is SPARK?
SPARK is an elective-based ‘hands-on’ curriculum for Years 5 and 6 students that is unique to Canterbury.
Each semester our students choose a special subject to study.
Then students from both year levels are combined into the same classroom and taught by relevant staff.
SPARK is about building curiosity, encouraging students to try something new, and providing an exceptional opportunity for them to embark on their own learning journey, as part of their ‘World Ready’ Canterbury education.
When does SPARK occur?
SPARK happens once per week, with students encouraged to continue their learning beyond the classroom.
How does SPARK link to the curriculum?
SPARK focuses on the Australian Curriculum’s general capabilities, looking at critical and creative thinking, personal and social capability, ethical understanding and intercultural understanding.
How can I see my child’s learning?
The Junior School hosts a learning exhibition at the end of each semester, where all students will have something to exhibit based on their SPARK sessions.

Semester 2, 2023 Spark Topic | Recycle, Repurpose & Reinvigorate
This unit exposes students to the endless opportunities that repurposing technology affords society.
Students work in small teams to solve everyday problems, by building devices that recycle, repurpose and reinvigorate technology.
They scavenge their required materials from previously used technology to signify the importance of recycling in contemporary society.
