NEW Canterbury Drone Academy In 2022!

NEW Canterbury Drone Academy In 2022!

A rapid transformation of industry - caused by the growing interconnectedness between the digital world and the real world, is leading to a radical evolution of the skill sets required by our future workforce.

This is especially true for industries such as engineering, agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing and energy.

Employers are seeking people with additional skills and knowledge in robotics and digital systems, and their interface with industry.

The Australian Unmanned Systems Academy (AUSA) Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot) provides Secondary Students with these skills, opening up many career and higher education pathways.

The combination of the Certificate III with the RePL (Remote Pilot) provides valuable opportunities for students.

It is the first step of a dynamic career in a variety of industries while also opening doors for students wishing to pursue higher education, including the Certificate IV in Aviation and further tertiary education pathways.

The curriculum has been carefully developed to deliver exciting technical and practical skill sets, while also bolstering student literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.

Students have full independent access to the AUSA interactive e-Learning platform with full lecture content and presentations to support learning during and outside class times.

Practical classes utilising the highest industry grade and quality drones, sensors, flight systems and simulator equipment ensures the skills and experience our students acquire is directly applicable to real world expectations.

The Drone Academy can include students from earlier age groups to help build their skills and gain confidence.

The Academy will also focus on building skills to help students compete in Australia's Drone Competitions where students can showcase their skills in manoeuvres and coding against other colleges.

Canterbury Care Central

Canterbury Care Central

In 2022, we are co-locating all our health and support services for students into one location.

Formerly the Secondary School Administration Building, Canterbury Care Central will be a 'one stop shop' for all students from Prep to Year 12 who are seeking:

  • first aid or medical dispensing through the Paramedic
  • counselling services
  • access to the College Chaplain
  • post-school pathways advice from the Director of Student Futures.

Appointments can be made with any of our professional staff in Care Central.

From next year, the Junior School and Secondary School reception counters will no longer house sick bays or keep medications for students.

This allows us to centralise and quality-assure all the health and support services for students and parents in one central location, on the ‘border’ of the Junior and Secondary campuses.

Secondary Administration will be relocating to a new facility in Q Block - located in a much better position at the Old Logan Village Road Gate D roundabout entrance.

Care Central will provide a much higher level of service for our students and families.

2021 Year 6 End Of Year Day Out

2021 Year 6 End Of Year Day Out

Our Year 6 cohort - soon to be Secondary Schoolers - were scheduled for a trip to Movie World last Friday for their big end of year Day Out, but it was relocated to The Jungle Adventure Play Indoor Centre due to the stormy weather all week.

Each student received their own personalised drink bottle and bag for an exciting day of climbing, balancing, hanging and swinging adventures before they charge into Year 7!

Please see the full Facebook Album photo gallery for all the fun...

Year 10 Hospitality Takeaway Café

Year 10 Hospitality Takeaway Café

The Year 10 Hospitality Takeaway Café was a fabulous success last week.

Our Year 10 students, under the guidance of Mrs Ingram, had the opportunity to demonstrate their culinary and customer service skills, linked to the attainment of their Certificate I in Hospitality.

So both students and teachers alike enjoyed the delicious cafe meals that they prepared last Thursday and Friday.

Menu items included beef and vegetarian burgers and nachos, meat lovers and vegetarian pizza, plus loaded fries with bacon, cheese and sour cream.

Thank you to all students and staff who supported the café!
