About:
It’s time to celebrate the best businesses in Logan.
This Logan Business Distinction Awards is the third combined Logan Chamber of Commerce event, and with 495 nominations and nearly 100 individual applications, this will be a night to remember.
With so many applications to go through, the judges worked hard to create their list of finalists.
The judging was hard with many amazing applications sent in, and every application will receive a certificate of recognition on the night.
The business awards was originally started by the Logan Chamber of Commerce over 35 years ago, and has a tradition of being a ‘night of nights’ on the Logan business and social calendar.
This year, there were 17 separate industry categories for businesses to nominate for, and five special major awards – New or Emerging Business, Sustainability, Innovation, Community Contribution, Inclusiveness and Business of the Year.
So, the red carpet is set, the lights are warming up, the band is ready to play us into the night, and all we need now is you…
2022 Sumo Robot League - Gold Coast Sumo Robotics Competition
2022 Sumo Robot League - Gold Coast Sumo Robotics Competition
Today was exhilarating for our Sumo Robot League, as our two Canterbury teams did the College proud at the Gold Coast Sumo Robotics Competition.
They were competing against teams from Emmanuel College, Hillcrest Christian College and Coomera’s Saint Stephen's College - our gracious hosts for the day.
Students competed over a series of rounds showcasing their design and programming skills, as their robots fought to stay inside the arena.
Canterbury Team 2 made it through a ‘sudden-death’ match to compete in the quarter finals where they unfortunately bowed out.
Canterbury Team 1 battled all the way to the third place play-offs, in which they triumphed and finished the day in third place.
We learned a lot, experienced some wins and losses, but most importantly – the day was full of educational fun.
“Even though we didn't win, we still had loads of fun.” - Khushi
“I have learnt a lot and will do new things with our robot to make it even better next time.” - Ryan
“Today we tried our best and never gave up.” - Pegella
“I enjoyed the friendly competition and working with my team to problem solve when we came up against something not working.” - Austin

2022 Pacific Districts Athletics Trial Carnival Results: 2 Record Breakers!
2022 Pacific Districts Athletics Trial Carnival Results: Canterbury's Two Record Breakers!
On Tuesday 2 August, 77 Canterbury Athletes competed at the Pacific Districts Athletics Trial Carnival.
This is where Canterbury competes against all the other schools in our District.
And we achieved so many personal best times and distances!
Jack Addley broke the 17-year-old Javelin Record, throwing 57.39m into a headwind.
And a massive shout-out to our College Captain Madisen-Jade Iva, who broke a 20-year-old record in the Shot Put, throwing a monster 12.84m - two metres further than the previous record!
Our Middle-Distance Runners and Sprinters set blistering times, while our High Jumpers and Long Jumpers, and Throwers in the Shot Put and Javelin performed beautifully too.
It was great seeing everyone trust their training and be comfortable in their own abilities.
The support you showed each other was truly amazing.
Congratulations and best wishes to the 66 Taipans participating in the Regional Trials in a few weeks’ time.
