Year 3 Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden | Harvest Time! 🌱

Year 3 Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden | Harvest Time!

Today our little green thumbs from Year 3 got to reap what they sowed when they harvested and tasted some delicious radishes and snowpeas from the garden they planted earlier this term. 🐞👩‍🌾🌿🧑🏽‍🌾🌱

They also got to plant some hanging pots of Nasturtiums and Marigolds, which will blossom into a nice feature over the garden's white picket fence. 🪴🌼🍃🌷

Photos of today's harvest can be found HERE on our Facebook page.

Canterbury Secondary Students Volunteer With Rosies

Canterbury Secondary Students Volunteer With Rosies

Last night, Canterbury Secondary students Sienna, Emerson, Ava and Bridie teamed up in 📍 Beenleigh, where they met the @rosiesqld team. 🌹🌹🌹

The students helped prepare and serve food, distributed blankets and sanitary items and conversed with the community's homeless, at-risk or socially isolated people. 🍲🧃🧴🪥

A recent report uncovered the number of homeless has soared more than 20 per cent in just five years — almost threefold the growth nationally. 📈😟

So, if you would like more information about the important work Rosies does or would like to donate to their cause or volunteer your time, please visit their website. https://rosies.org.au 🌐💌

Easter Olympics | Cranmer House 🐺🟡 VS Goldsworthy House 🦅🟣

Easter Olympics | Cranmer House 🐺🟡 VS Goldsworthy House 🦅🟣

Who doesn't love a bit of friendly competition? 💪

That was on the cards today when students from Years 7-9 in 🐺🟡 Cranmer House took on 🦅🟣 Goldsworthy House in a social game of Easter Olympics, accomplished in Canterbury College style.

There were chocolate Easter egg & spoon races, carrot lobbing, and marshmallow mouth-catching activities. 🥚🥄🍫🥕⚪

Like a busy bunny warren, there was chaos and carrots everywhere, but the first team to hot-cross hop over the finish line was... Goldsworthy House. 🟣🏆🦅

Well done to everyone who participated in this egg-citing Easter challenge. 🐰🥕🐇🐤

Photos will soon be available on our Facebook Page.

2023 Junior School Bridge Builders Mediators

2023 Junior School Bridge Builders Mediators

24 of our Year 6 students have been appointed as Bridge Builders Mediators.

This is a part of our Junior School Wellbeing Program and is a valuable resource for our College community.

These students will play an important leadership role in encouraging others to solve problems more positively.

Our Bridge Builders Mediators recently participated in a two-day training session run by Jocelyne Chirnside MEd (Hons), a national Social Emotional Learning consultant from @empowering_life_skills.

The aims of the training were:

  • To teach students an awareness of the conflict in their lives and how they respond to it.
  • An appreciation of the differences between people.
  • To teach students skills such as listening, critical thinking, calming down skills, active listening and problem-solving.
  • Provide an empowering process where students learn to assume more responsibility for resolving their problems.
  • To support the school in developing a safer and happier environment for all students.

The students will be rostered for one lunchtime a week, where they will work in pairs and roam the Prep - Year 2 playground.

Bridge Builders Mediators are responsible for a process where they guide the disputants to resolve their conflict.

They will listen to both sides and assist our younger students in sorting out their problems and building bridges with others to help them be friends.

Photos from this two-day session can be found on our Facebook page HERE.
