***COLLEGE PARENTS & CARERS IMPORTANT REQUEST***
We kindly request parents, carers and relatives to support this event by cooking and providing bulk quantities of their traditional cultural dishes to sell at this event.
We have around 950 Years 5-12 students enrolled on campus, plus their 90-100 teachers and admin staff, plus visiting parents, carers and relatives.
Now we are obviously NOT asking people to cook 1,050 meals (!!) but this is the total potential guest number to be fed between all the various cuisines.
So let's say 10-12 different cuisines x 100 meals each OR 10-12 different cuisines x 2 traditional dishes x 40-50 of each dish... something manageable like that...
Obviously the more parents and cuisines and dishes - the less cooking quantities for everybody!
And please keep your recipe ingredients grocery shopping receipts for full reimbursement by the College.
COMPULSORY FOOD & DRINK SUPPLIERS FORM PLEASE: United Nations Day Festival: Your Food & Beverages Basic Information.
***IMPORTANT FOOD & DRINK SUPPLIERS INFO GUIDE PDF ATTACHED BELOW***
Adults who can help with on-site food preparation and counter service during this major event would also be greatly appreciated!
Our objective is to give as many people a taste of as many different cuisines as possible...
Please direct any further food related questions to our Major Events Food Services Manager: Mr Colin Mason –
Please direct any general event questions to our Director Of Student Development: Mr Chris Nield –

U18 Boys Queensland 1 Rugby Team: Congratulations Jack Henry!
U18 Boys Queensland 1 Rugby Team: Congratulations Jack Henry!
Congratulations to School Captain Jack Henry who has made the U18 Boys Queensland 1 Rugby team.
He will represent Queensland at the National Rugby Championships early in July down at Sydney.
Jack recently competed at the 2023 17-18 Years Queensland Schoolboys Rugby State Championships from Thursday 25 - Sunday 28 May, at the Surfers Paradise Rugby Club, as part of the South Coast team.
Unfortunately, the Met Coast team defeated the South Coast team in an exciting Grand Final clash 21-15.
Jack was also awarded the Queensland Rugby Football Schools Union (QRFSU) Life Member Award.
It is a long-standing tradition to present a Life Members' Award to a player from each team who exemplifies the spirit of Rugby at the Queensland Representative School Sport Rugby Championships.
WELL DONE and good luck down in Sydney Jack!
Canterbury Taipans Aquatic, Tennis & Athletics Facility | Staffing Update
Canterbury Taipans Aquatic, Tennis & Athletics Facility | Staffing Update
Dear Canterbury Taipans Club Members, Families and College Tennis Participants,
Our College’s Canterbury Taipans Aquatic, Tennis & Athletics Facility is growing rapidly as a joint school and community high performance centre – across Swimming, Learn To Swim, Tennis and Athletics, since opening back in 2020.
This expansion in membership size, staffing, calendar events, weekly classes, café and shop products, along with escalating complexity in bookings, financials and external stakeholder engagement, has created the need for a new fully dedicated senior management role to oversee the entire business and operations – the General Manager – Taipans Sporting Club.
This role has been advertised on Seek during this month of May.
Under this new General Manager role will be the Head Swimming Coach, Head Tennis Coach and Head Athletics Coach.
A full-time Head Tennis Coach position, which links the Taipans Club more closely into the TAS and Junior TAS Tennis Program, has also been advertised.
We genuinely thank Mr James Rapkins for his great pioneering work setting up Canterbury Tennis and the Canterbury Taipans.
We will announce and introduce our new General Manger and Head Tennis Coach to the College and Club community in the coming weeks.
Kind regards
Mrs Meagan King
Deputy Principal
Year 12 Chemistry Excursion Today: Beenleigh Artisan Distillery
Year 12 Chemistry Excursion Today: Beenleigh Artisan Distillery
This morning our Year 12 Chemistry cohort visited the Beenleigh Artisan Distillery, where they toured the facility and learnt about the real-world applications of the organic chemical reactions they've been studying in class.
The term 'Flood Rum' made much more sense after seeing the water height markings on the inside of the distilling building.
After their tour, students were lucky enough to have a Q&A Session with Head Distiller Wayne.
Students were interested to discover: rum's flavour profile is made from a range of organic esters and ethanol; the differences between rum and whiskey; how the liquor ageing process works; and why there are many different types of barrels and vats.

2023 Term 2 APS Sumo Robotics Competition: Well Done To Our Junior School Sumo Roboneers!
2023 Term 2 APS Sumo Robotics Competition: Well Done To Our Junior School Sumo Roboneers!
On Wednesday, our Junior School Sumo Roboneers competed in the Term 2 APS Sumo Robotics Competition down at St Stephen's College at Coomera on the Gold Coast.
This South Eastern League is undoubtedly growing, with 34 teams and over 100 students competing!
Anticipation, excitement and nerves filled the room as teams battled for a place in the quarter finals.
Our students displayed the school's values of good-natured and fair competition throughout the event, as they competed against other schools to dominate the high-tech sumo arena.
This tournament was the culmination of many hours of hard work, as students developed their engineering and coding skills, teamwork and resilience.
Today was not just a competition, but also a celebration of everything they have achieved.
At the end of the preliminary rounds, the teams left standing in each of the four arenas, played off for a place on the podium.
Five of our six Canterbury Roboneers teams made it into these quarter finals, with one team managing to finish in an admirable 4th place.
Congratulations to all the teams that participated in this spirited and fun event.
