Last Friday’s Year 11 Senior Visual Art Stimulus Excursion | Logan Art Gallery, Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA)

This Term, our Year 11 Visual Arts students are undertaking Unit 3: Art As Knowledge as one of their subjects.

As part of their IA1 Investigation, students must be exposed to an authentic experience and a variety of stimuli.

So last Friday, our Year 11 Visual Art students visited the Logan Art Gallery, Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) to view the various exhibitions on display.

Our students first visited the local Logan Art Gallery to view the annual Artwaves exhibition.

This exhibition showcases works from talented high school students, and aims to demonstrate the wealth of imagination and creativity present in our Logan region.

Three Canterbury students – Morgan Thomson, Natarsha Savage and Joshua Fullard – have their artworks displayed in this exhibition, and it was great to view their creations in a professional artist space, with other amazing artworks.

Our students then travelled over to South Bank to visit the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), where they were able to view exhibitions that showcased contemporary and traditional works from Australian and international artists.

These exhibitions provided a perfect opportunity for our students to view the artworks in person, and hopefully inspire them as they prepare for the production of their own pieces.
