Dance
The Canterbury Co-curricular Dance program enables students to participate in a range of Dance ensembles.
The program caters for students from Kindy to Year 12, inspiring dancers of all ability levels to strive for their full potential. Students are provided with technical training by qualified dance teachers in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre and hip hop dance styles.
Canterbury offers private and small group dance tuition through the Arts Academy studio tuition program. Students who engage with the Dance program at Canterbury are provided with opportunities to participate in workshops with guest artists, challenging physical boundaries and performing professionally choreographed works.
Canterbury Dance teams have gained respect and recognition in the wider community with invitations to perform at the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge Gala Concert and the Beenleigh Quota Eisteddfod Society 30th Anniversary Concert.
Canterbury Training teams and Junior Dance Classes are open to students of any ability who have a passion for Dance and would like to learn and train in dance with a competition element.
The Performance Dance program encourages students to participate in a range of styles, engendering a love of dance, group interaction and participation. The Program caters to students of all abilities and builds an appreciation of a diverse range of dance genres. Positions in Dance Performance Teams are awarded by audition. Auditions are held at the end of Term 4 for existing Canterbury students and in Term 1 for students new to the College.
