Senior School Leadership Investiture Ceremony: For Our Incoming 2025 Student Leaders
Senior School Leadership Investiture Ceremony: For Our Incoming 2025 Student Leaders
On Tuesday afternoon, one of our highlight events – the annual Senior School Leadership Investiture Ceremony, was hosted in the CEC before a large audience of Years 5-12 students and staff, our Senior School and Executive Leadership senior management teams, invited VIP guests, and the proud parents and families of our student leaders.
This ceremony celebrates the official appointments of our School Captains, Prefects, House Vice Captains, and Activity Leaders for the upcoming 2025 school year, symbolised with handovers from the ‘old guard’ of 2024 student leaders.
So a huge congratulations to our incoming 2025 Senior School Student Leadership Team, and our best wishes for the next 12 months with the full support of the College staff.
It was wonderful having so many clearly proud parents, carers and families of our student leaders attending the investiture ceremony, before joining us over a pleasant afternoon tea outside the CEC.
Lastly, a special thank you to our outgoing 2024 Student Leaders who have demonstrated our College Values of integrity, respect, gratitude and effort so superbly with our entire school community.

2024 Senior School Interhouse Swimming Carnival | Event Wrap & Photos
This year’s Senior School Interhouse Swimming Carnival took place on Wednesday at our Aquatic Centre, where students from Years 7-12 demonstrated their swimming prowess and House spirit.
The event fostered a real sense of teamwork and connection among participants with cheering from the grandstands – especially during the House-based swimming relay race.
As part of a new tradition, the Year 12 cohort made a splash by all jumping into the pool together, marking a memorable moment in their final year at Canterbury.
Congratulations to all the Age Champions, King and Queen Of The Pool - Riley Edwards & Taylah Smith-Miller, and a special ‘shout-out’ to Ramsey House as the 2024 Senior School Interhouse Swimming Carnival Champions!

2024 TAS Athletics Carnival: Canterbury WINS Overall School Champions! | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery
On Tuesday, our TAS Athletics Team headed to QSAC – the Queensland State Athletics Centre in what was to be an action-packed day of Track and Field challenges.
Canterbury students showcased their ‘need for speed’ on the track with dominant performances in the 100m, 200m and 800m events.
The pinnacle was perhaps the last event of the day which was the 4 x 100m Relays.
The Canterbury girls stepped up and were clinical with their baton changeovers, winning five out of the six relays.
Our Canterbury boys were also exceptional, placing Top Three in all but two Relays.
In the field events, Canterbury went superbly, placing in more than 75% of the events.
From High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Shot Put and Javelin, Canterbury students gave their all.
A special ‘shout out’ must go to Mrs Brooke King and her team of coaches for preparing the students in the lead-up to this major event.
All students demonstrated their ‘Win Well, Lose Well, While Always Being Gracious’ philosophy, which was showcased throughout the day.
We extend our congratulations to the Canterbury Age Champions, as well as the Second and Third placegetters.

Years 7 – 8 Parents & Carers Networking Evening & Information Session With Channel 9’s Dr Justin Coulson | Event Wrap & Photos
On Tuesday night, we had the pleasure of hosting a special networking evening, followed by a superb information session for Years 7 & 8 parents and carers with Dr Justin Coulson, at our Performing Arts Centre.
It was the perfect opportunity for our lower Senior School community to come together and socialise, before engaging in an insightful session led by Dr Coulson.
A well-known co-host and parenting expert on Channel Nine’s ‘Parental Guidance’ TV show, Dr Coulson is also the founder of the website happyfamilies.com.au and its related podcast.
He is regarded as one of Australia’s most trusted experts on parenting, relationships and wellbeing.
During the session, Dr Coulson addressed issues surrounding the rising anxiety and stress levels in teens, highlighting the vital role that parents and carers play in fostering their resilience.
He shared four key strategies to help build resilience in young people:
Build Belonging: Express unconditional love and support.
Build Identity: Share personal and family stories, such as how the parents met, or the origin of a child’s name.
Encourage Play: Engage in outdoor activities with your children, and allow for ‘risky play’ like climbing trees to help them develop confidence and independence.
Problem Solving: Provide guidance by offering options and helping children work through their challenges themselves.
The evening was a great success, leaving everyone with valuable insights and practical strategies to support their teens at home.

Take a look at the impressive work from our BoyZone dance team this year led by our Junior School teacher Mr Michael Brown.
Our Years 3-6 students explored non-traditional performance spaces while developing their dance piece: ‘Believer’.
Their hard work culminated in the production of a short film, which was showcased alongside their live performance at the recent Canterbury Dance Spectacular.
After strong initial interest and success in the Junior School, the BoyZone concept is now expanding into the Senior School!
To be part of this exciting expansion into Years 7-10 in 2025, Expressions Of Interest are OPEN for this NEW Senior School boys dance team called ‘BoyzCrew’ BY CLICKING HERE.
Junior School BoyZone registrations for Years 3-6 in 2025 will also open via Clipboard in November.
A reminder that ALL boys are welcome to audition and/or register for any of our 13 Canterbury dance ensembles.
We look forward to finishing off the 2024 Dance Season with a big finale, and anticipate seeing lots of new and familiar faces back in the studio as we transition into 2025.
Happy dancing!

Mr Peter Hull: Fitstop Founder & CEO | Speaks With Canterbury Year 7 Business Students
Mr Peter Hull: Fitstop Founder & CEO | Speaks With Canterbury Year 7 Business Students
https://youtu.be/BkJP_Lfjsw4
Our Year 7 BEE: Business, Economics and Entrepreneurship class has been exploring the essential skills needed to become a successful modern-day entrepreneur.
So who better to provide ‘world ready’ industry advice than Mr Peter Hull, Founder and CEO of the hugely successful international fitness franchise Fitstop?
Canterbury students Zavier Morrow and Declan Ryan recently enjoyed the amazing opportunity to sit down with him and discuss all things business at his East Brisbane HQ.
The proud Queenslander was originally on track to become a pro motocross rider, until he suffered two serious accidents, that shifted his focus toward personal training.
In 2013 Mr Hull launched Fitstop, starting with a small client base in his parents' garage, aiming to create a supportive, community-driven fitness experience centred around functional strength and conditioning.
By 2014-16, Fitstop secured its first lease for a proper brick-and-mortar gym.
In 2017, Fitstop began franchising and has quickly expanded to over 150 locations with more than 30,000 members.
The brand also opened locations internationally, including into New Zealand, Singapore and the United States.
During 2020’s global COVID-19 pandemic, Fitstop faced significant business challenges due to ongoing lockdowns and gym closures.
However, the company quickly adapted by implementing online workout programs to keep its community engaged and connected.
Guided by its motto: ‘Stop at Nothing’, Fitstop embodies continuous growth, resilience and commitment to positive community impacts.
Peter Hull’s journey from a modest start-up to leading one of Australia’s fastest-growing fitness franchises, highlights the importance of perseverance, innovation and community-focussed growth.
Enjoy viewing what Mr Peter Hull shares with our excited Canterbury students Zavier and Declan…
