How’s your spelling ability these days?

For example: How many Cs and Ms in that really long word which means: A place to stay when you’re on holidays - that begins with an ‘A’ and ends with an ‘N’?

Well… as part of our Junior School’s Lumina Program supporting high-performing students, over the last month we’ve been conducting weekly ‘Spell-Offs’ for each grade’s students - from Year 3 to Year 6 inclusive.

And at last Thursday’s Assembly it all came down to the big FINALE!

Well done to all the spellers who participated and congratulations to our Year Level champions and Major Winner!

Spell on everybody… or maybe leave it to AI…

PS: ACCOMMODATION

Welcome To Canterbury Ms Sarah Scott | Our New Head Swimming Coach: Feature Video

https://youtu.be/SoY-Xo1jxPM

Please welcome our new Head Swimming Coach Ms Sarah Scott to our Canterbury Community!

Sarah began her swim coaching career in Western Australia, before being invited to join the coaching team at the Nunawading Swimming Club in Melbourne, Victoria.

Upon starting this role in 2015, Sarah also took the reins of the National Development Swimming Squad, before taking the lead of the National Age Swimming Program shortly after.

In conjunction with her primary coaching role, Sarah worked closely with the Nunawading High Performance Squad – alongside 2020 Olympians Brendon Smith, Jessica Hansen and Matthew Temple; 2016 Paralympian Madeleine Scott; and 2022 Australian Team members Bowen Gough and Mikayla Smith.

In 2020, she became Head Coach of Melbourne’s Northcote Swimming Club, followed by Head Coach of the South Lake Dolphins Swimming Club in 2022, in Fremantle (WA).

Sarah holds an Advanced Coaching Accreditation and is in the process of finalising her Performance Coaching Accreditation.

Over the past 10 years, Sarah has shown an amazing ability for nurturing and developing high performance levels on the national swimming stage, with three of her former athletes earning a place on the 2022 Australian Junior Pan Pacific Swim Team.

In addition to her coaching experience, Sarah also holds a Bachelor of Sport Science, majoring in Exercise Physiology from Deakin University.

She also places a high level of focus on the development of healthy performance mindsets, with an emphasis on growth and resilience.

Please enjoy our video showing Sarah in action, and learn about what she looks forward to contributing to Canterbury’s Taipans Swimming Club.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Today our Year 10 Film, Television and New Media students are undertaking a workshop with Mr Stewart Tyrell - an experienced filmmaker and educator with the Griffith Film School.

The workshop is focusing on cinematography and post-production practices.

In particular, our students are focusing on developing their understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro - a widely used video editing software in the film and television industry.

It's a great opportunity for the class to develop their editing skills and gain a deeper understanding of how to use this powerful tool to create high-quality content. ️

Mr Stewart Tyrell will return next week to work with our Year 11 students!
