Our Year 1 Canterbury Kitchen Garden Adventure
Our Year 1 Canterbury Kitchen Garden Adventure
Yesterday our Year 1 students visited our sunny Canterbury Kitchen Garden, where they looked at the freshly sprouted red poppy seedlings, checked in on their growing carrots, learned about our garden's nourishing worm tea, and started the planting process with sacks full of seed potatoes.
Mr Penny is hoping we can get around 3,000 spuds at harvest time!
Throughout this week, students in the Junior School will take turns collectively being part of this process, and creating abundant produce to share with our community.

2023 FUSE Cup Mario Kart Scenic Rim Regional Grand Final | Event Report & Photos
On Thursday last week, four students from across Years 7 and 8, Lincoln Homann, Matthew Flaherty, Lochlan McDougall and Ashton Burke - with the support of Alexander Sayers, attended the 2023 Scenic Rim Regional Grand Final for the FUSE Cup Mario Kart competition.
The boys performed well with two students reaching the Grand Final.
Matthew finished in second place while Ashton won fourth place.
I would like to thank all the boys for their sportsmanship throughout this eSports tournament - they should all be extremely proud of their efforts.
We all look forward to the next competition!
Regards
Mr Ben Edwards

Worm Farm Wonders | ELC Kindergarten's Green-Thumbed Adventure!
Worm Farm Wonders | ELC Kindergarten's Green-Thumbed Adventure!
Our ELC Kindergarten students enjoyed a fantastic morning exploring the wonders of worm farms with Mr Paul Penny!
Today, they learned about how these little wrigglers play a vital role in fertilising our garden soil.
How about those excited little faces as they got up close and personal with these friendly earthworms.
More photos can be found on our Facebook Page HERE.
Worms feed on plant debris like dead roots, leaves, grasses and manure as well as soil.
Their digestive system concentrates the organic and mineral elements in the food they eat, so their casts are richer in available nutrients than the soil around them.
Nitrogen in these casts is also readily available to plants.
The extensive channelling and burrowing by earthworms loosens and aerates the soil and improves soil drainage too.
Soils with earthworms actually drain up to 10 times faster than soils without earthworms.
So we look forward to enjoying these same campus Kitchen Garden benefits from our own Worm Farm workers!

This morning's Sudsy Challenge Sausage Sizzle for our Prep-Year 2 students was a flamin' good event.
We had four queues of hungry students waiting at what our students described as the 'length of 1,000 sausages' per line.
But they were happy to wait, as each sausage sandwich purchased supports the wonderful Orange Sky Australia charity!
