Check out these 'orange spirit filled' Junior School students, Secondary School students and Canterbury staff, as they kick-start our campus-wide The Sudsy Challenge fundraiser for Orange Sky Australia's homeless services!
They will be wearing their SAME official bright orange Sudsy Challenge t-shirts for the next three days straight - starting from today until the last day of Term 3 on Friday.
The goal is to raise awareness about the plight of homeless people when it comes to needing their clothes washed or having a simple hot shower.
Join us in making a difference as we approach our $30,000 target and beyond!

Hello Canterbury Taipans Swimming Families!
I can't believe Term 3 is almost over already, with time flying during my busy journey settling into the Canterbury Taipans Team.
So I thank all our swimming members for being so welcoming, and hope you enjoyed this term's club events.
Working with you all has been a pleasure to make our Canterbury Taipans Sports Club a wonderful family and community hub.
Now here’s what is happening around our mighty Canterbury Taipans Swimming Club…
Thursday 31 August: Swimming Trials Club Night Success
22 x Races, 28 x Swimmers, 126 x Race Nominations, and countless amazing helpers!
A very BIG thank you to everyone who participated in our Trial Club Night at the end of last month.
It was a great evening – even if it threatened to rain on our parade for a while there.
Now Term 4 will see our official Club Nights season commence, with our first Swimming Club Night on Thursday 5 October 2023.
Races will run weekly each Thursday afternoon/evening during Term 4 until Week 10, when we host our Swim School combined Christmas Party on Thursday 7 December 2023.
We will continue to experiment with our 4:30pm starting time.
As the volume of race nominations grows, this earlier timeslot will allow us to get through all the events without the risk of finishing late on a school night.
Redlands Long Course Prep Meet Wrap
Big ‘shout-out’ to our five swimmers who travelled to Redlands on the weekend to race, with Coach Crystal super proud of everyone’s efforts.
Some really impressive Personal Bests were achieved, including some podium finishes, as the team took home a combined 1 x First Place, 3 x Second Place, and 3 x Third Place medals.
Great job team!
Ipswich Grammar School Swimming Club Transition Meet – THIS Weekend!

Transition Swim Meets are a perfect opportunity for those who haven’t competed at external swim meets before, due to their relaxed rule tolerances.

Canterbury Taipans September School Holiday Programs
We have officially launched our September School Holiday Programs!
These include Swimming, Athletics, Netball and Tennis Camps.
Our Swim Squad Program option runs Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 4:00pm daily each week, with half-day and full-day options, from Monday 18 – Friday 29 September 2023.
Each day will expose children to sport-specific training, and a mixture of cross-training fitness activities and mindset coaching, for a holistic approach to developing young athletes.
This is open to ALL members currently training in ANY Squad Level and our Learn To Swim Dolphin and Shark Levels.

Now here’s what is coming up for our mighty Canterbury Taipans Tennis Club…
Junior Tennis Fixtures: Term 4 Season - Saturday Mornings
Our Head Tennis Coach Mr Andrew Davey and I recently returned from the Tennis Logan City Annual General Meeting and Committee Meeting, regarding our Junior Tennis Fixtures Season for Term 4 and next year.
After some solid discussions, our Saturday Junior Fixtures will run in line with Term 4.
This Term 4 Season will run every Saturday morning for eight weeks, commencing on 7 October 2023, with the finals scheduled for 2 December 2023.
The leagues are Orange Ball (8 – 10 Years), Green Ball (10 – 12 Years) and Yellow Ball (13 Years +).
Cost: $20 per individual player to enter.
In 2024, we will move to a ‘three-seasons-per-year’ tennis competition.
The first season in 2024 will start around Week 2 of Term 1 and run for 12 weeks plus the finals.
Then there will be a short break before starting the following season.
This decision was made to strengthen each fixture season with a few more weeks of play, while providing more opportunities for players and teams to improve their tennis skills throughout the year.

Term 4 Updated Tennis Timetable & Pro Squad Programs
As Term 3 ends, our Term 4 coaching programs have just gone live!
Please check the link below to start re-registering for your preferred programs and timeslots.
We are excited to commence our new Tennis Pro Squad Program for each level.
Our Pro Squads will allow our young members to achieve a higher standard and play more often, with access to timetables offering daily sessions from Monday to Friday for a single fixed program fee.
This will be an option for any member currently in a Pro-Level Program who wants to switch, and/or anyone who has completed one of our foundation levels and is ready to move up to the pro level.

Canterbury College WINS 2023 Junior TAS Track & Field Athletics Championships!
Canterbury College WINS 2023 Junior TAS Track & Field Athletics Championships!
Last Friday, our large Junior School squad competed at the 2023 Junior TAS Track & Field Athletics Championships over at the Queensland Sport & Athletics Centre (QSAC) in Nathan.
We did exceptionally well, winning five age groups - 9 Years Boys, 10 Years Boys, 10 Years Girls, 12 Years Boys and 12 Years Girls!
And we placed first in the Boys Overall and second in the Girls Overall rankings.
After all the points were tallied, we were named the 2023 Aggregate School Champions!
Congratulations to all our students who competed on the day.

- Jesse Pickvance-Hall: 9 Years Boys Age Champion + two Junior TAS Records (800m & Discus)
- Trinity Francois: 10 Years Girls Age Champion + one Junior TAS Record (100m)

Our Year 8 Dance students headed to the QPAC Playhouse over at Southbank today.
They were captivated by the work of the Bangarra Dance Theatre and watched their piece 'Yuldea', which was choreographed by the incredible Francis Ringa.
Students will learn to analyse dance creations as they continue their Dance studies this semester into Term 4.
