Last Friday evening, Canterbury Theatre Company's secondary students brought to life 'A Thousand Points From Zero,' an intriguing dystopian script by Steve Pirie that explores technology-driven themes.

This performance was in collaboration with 'The Scene Project' by Queensland Theatre, and provides a fantastic opportunity for professional development, and enriches Canterbury's curriculum for those interested in theatre production.

2024 'Next Step' Year 12 Completers / Graduates Survey | Advance Notice For March 2024

This is a friendly notice that all our Year 12 students will be invited to participate in the Next Step Year 12 Completers Survey starting in March 2024.

This short confidential survey will ask questions about graduates’ activities since finishing school - like study and work.

Graduates can expect to be invited to the survey via a letter from the Queensland Minister for Education, or an email or phone call from the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office, on behalf of the Department of Education.

Please check your contact details are correct with the school and your learning account by logging into the student portal - https://myqce.qcaa.qld.edu.au/

We appreciate your participation in this important survey, as it helps the Queensland Government to support our school, to improve services for future students.

2023 Battle Of The ROCK Bands | WINNERS: Canterbury's Second Wave, Ashlyn Dinsdale & Rory Walker!

2023 Battle Of The ROCK Bands | WINNERS: Canterbury's Second Wave, Ashlyn Dinsdale & Rory Walker!

Canterbury's Senior Rock School Band Second Wave performed on-stage at the 2023 Annual Battle Of The ROCK Bands competition, held last night at Clairvaux MacKillop College.

We appeared on the first night (5 October) of this three-day competition AND won the following categories!

  • Most Outstanding Band: Second Wave (the top prize!)
  • Most Outstanding Musician: Ashlyn Dinsdale (Year 12)
  • Most Outstanding Vocalist: Rory Walker (Year 12)

For winning the top prize on the night, Second Wave received $1,000 prize money for the College to spend at 'The Music Spot'.

Plus, they earned the opportunity to perform live at The Triffid on 19 December this year, along with the winning bands from nights two and three.

Rory also received a Sure SM58 microphone, while Ashlyn received a $100 Mannys Music voucher for their individual victories, along with their trophies.

A HUGE congratulations to Second Wave and these two band members especially!

Thank you also to Mr Simon Lane for managing the band, as well as Mrs Louise Wheatley and Dr Katrina Peddell for their photos and videos of our students on stage.

The always enjoyable 2023 Canterbury Years 3-6 Interhouse Swimming Carnival has concluded - and we have a champion!

Yes - Cranmer House emerged victorious from the pool, seizing the highly coveted trophy!

Congratulations to our enthusiastic young wolf pack for their undeniable House spirit!

2023 Secondary Interhouse Swimming Carnival | Photos & Results

Our 2023 Secondary Interhouse Swimming Carnival saw our secondary students actively participating in a memorable team-building event, where they could showcase their swimming prowess and House spirit!

With an incredible 119-point lead, Becket House won the day, earning them the coveted 2023 Secondary Interhouse Swimming Carnival Shield!

The Ramsey House Canterbury Mental Health Week Festival also commenced at lunchtime with 'The Great Aussie BBQ' Sausage Sizzle & Lolly Bags Fundraiser at the Canterbury Aquatic Centre.

This was a tasty way for the students to fuel up their energy stores for more afternoon swimming.

Canterbury has a rich and thriving co-curricular Dance Program on offer to ALL students!

It contains details about each dance ensemble and audition or non-audition information, including costs, class times, uniform requirements and more.

2024 Junior School Dance Ensembles Audition Information

NB: Non-Audition Dance Ensembles registrations do not close until January 2024 or until capacity is reached.

Shine Dance Company

  • Open to students currently in Years 1-2, 2023 (Years 2-3, 2024).
  • Audition: 3:30pm - 4:45pm, Thursday 26 October 2023.
  • Where: Performing Arts Theatre, Canterbury College.
  • Current students must meet a teacher at the Junior School Green Area to be walked over to the Performing Arts Theatre.
  • Please register for the Shine Dance Company Audition HERE.

Ignite Dance Company

  • Open to students currently in Years 3-5, 2023 (Years 4-6, 2024).
  • Audition: 3:30pm - 4:30pm, Friday 27 October 2023.
  • Where: Performing Arts Theatre, Canterbury College.
  • Current students must meet a teacher at the Junior School Green Area to be walked over to the Performing Arts Theatre.
  • Please register for the Ignite Dance Company Audition HERE.

Blaze Crew

  • Open to students currently in Years 3-5, 2023 (Years 4-6 2024).
  • Audition: 4:30pm - 5:15pm, Friday 27 October 2023.
    Optional supervision will be provided from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.
  • Where: Performing Arts Theatre, Canterbury College.
  • Current students must meet a teacher at the Junior School Green Area to be walked over to the Performing Arts Theatre.
