Secondary School Campus Updates: Building Name & Room Numbering Changes
Secondary School Campus Updates: Building Name & Room Numbering Changes
As well as all the new native vegetation garden plantings, you may have noticed some building name and room numbering changes have occurred in the Secondary School during the Easter Holidays.
The revised Campus Map is attached for your reference, alongside a brief video indicating the recent changes.
These updates build upon the recent creation of D and E Blocks in the Junior School, to better align building names and room numbers with the physically distinct areas to which they belong.
Several building name changes have also been made to represent the purpose of these spaces better.
The naming/numbering changes are as follows:
- College Administration is now Corporate Services Administration for Enrolments (College Registrar), Finance Dept, Communications Dept and the Principal's Office.
- The Auditorium is now the Performing Arts Theatre.
- The Trade Training Centre is now the Canterbury Functions Centre.
- The Arts Centre is now the Creative Industries/Performing Arts Building.
- C Block (C03-C09) is now G Block (G01-G07), allowing this letter to be earmarked for future building in the Junior School, keeping letters A-E within the Junior School.
- C Block (C10-C11) is now the M Block Annexe – Art Studios (M26-M27) to better tie this building to the main Creative Industries/Performing Arts Building (M Block).
- H Block (H04-H09) is now H03-H06, ensuring rooms with multiple entrances no longer have unnecessary numbers.
- H Block (H17-H21) is now F Block (F1-F5), recognising this block as distinct from the other H Block buildings.
- T Block classrooms have been separated into T and U Blocks, better aligning these spaces with their specific faculties and then re-ordering the rooms numerically.
A summary of all the room numbering changes is listed below:

RACQ Docudrama Secondary School Road Safety Program
Our secondary school programs teach young people skills and behaviours they can adopt to reach their full potential.
Our free educational programs are offered to secondary schools across Queensland.
As Queensland’s largest advocate for road safety education, RACQ have a number of programs that educate students about road safety.
The RACQ Docudrama is a 2.5-hour senior school road safety education program that is offered free of charge to Years 11 and 12 students in Queensland secondary schools.
The docudrama is both engaging and interactive, and will empower your students to make better and informed choices both as a driver and passenger.
This docudrama takes a community approach to road safety issues involving emergency service workers and other local professionals to help demonstrate a powerful ‘mock crash’ road safety scenario.
Students then explore and are equipped with real world strategies for combating the ‘Fatal Five’ road safety issues: Drink and Drug Driving, Fatigue, Not Wearing a Seatbelt, Speeding and Distraction.
RACQ Docudrama Road Safety Program
The program is divided into three sessions:
Session 1: The ‘Mock Car Crash' Scenario
This scenario involves three actors playing the victims in a ‘mock’ car crash scene. The emergency services and funeral directors also play a role in this dramatisation.
Session 2: The Prequel (1st Debriefing Session)
This session will explore the activities and decisions of the victims prior to the car crash. Students are presented with facts and statistics addressing ‘The Fatal Five’ (not wearing a seat belt, speeding, fatigue, drink and drug driving, distraction).
Session 3: The Sequel (2nd Debriefing Session)
The final session involves developing strategies to empower students to make safer choices and decisions when they are either a driver or passenger of a vehicle.

2022 Canterbury Major Stage Production: Disney's The Lion King Junior - Coming October!
General Information
We are excited to announce that in Term 4, The Lion King Junior is being performed at Canterbury.
This is an amazing opportunity for students to be part of a large-scale production right here at the College.
There are numerous roles to be filled, including on-stage characters and back-stage support.
In preparation, we will begin early in Term 2 with auditions, followed by rehearsals.
Years 4 to 6 students are invited to audition to be part of this show and although beneficial, students DO NOT need to have previous experience or training in singing, dancing or acting – as these skills will be taught throughout the rehearsal process.
So we are seeking Junior School students who are genuinely dedicated and truly excited to be part of this fulfilling and fun educational and personal experience.
The many roles in the show, range from the animals of the Pridelands in an ensemble, to major character roles such as Simba, Scar and Mufasa.
Here is the dedicated MyCC Lion King Junior Homepage.

The Lion King Junior Show Synopsis
RAFIKI gathers the ANIMALS of the Pridelands to welcome the newborn cub of King MUFASA and Queen SARABI (Circle Of Life With Nants' Ingonyama).
The king's jealous brother, SCAR, no longer heir to the throne, skips the ceremony, upsetting Mufasa.
Time passes (Grasslands Chant) and YOUNG SIMBA grows into a curious young lion.
Mufasa explains the circle of life and that Young Simba will one day be king of the Pridelands.
Young Simba shares this news with Scar, who encourages his nephew to visit the forbidden Elephant Graveyard.
Young Simba finds his best friend, YOUNG NALA, hunting with SARAFINA and the LIONESSES (The Lioness Hunt) and invites her on his adventure.
Once they ditch their overbearing babysitter, ZAZU (I Just Can't Wait To Be King), the cubs encounter the ravenous hyenas SHENZI, BANZAI and ED in the graveyard.
Mufasa arrives and pummels the hyenas, then takes the cubs home safely.
Scar emerges from the darkness to recruit the HYENAS in his murderous plan to become king (Be Prepared).
Back in the Pridelands, Mufasa reprimands Young Simba, then shares the guidance of their ancestors, up among the stars (They Live In You).
Enacting his plan, Scar leaves Young Simba alone in the gorge and signals the hyenas to scare a herd of wildebeest (The Stampede).
Scar alerts Mufasa, who leaps into the stampede to save his son.
Mufasa rescues Young Simba, but Scar pushes his brother back into the gorge, where he is trampled.
Scar blames Young Simba for the king's death and tells him to run away and never return.
As Sarabi, Young Nala, Rafiki and the lionesses mourn the loss of Mufasa and Young Simba (The Mourning), Scar assumes the throne, uniting lions and hyenas under his dark reign.
Lost in the desert, Young Simba meets TIMON and PUMBAA, who take him to their ‘worry-free’ jungle home (Hakuna Matata).
Under Scar's reign, the Pridelands are nearly destroyed.
Now grown, NALA decides to leave and seek help (Shadowland).
To her delight, she finds SIMBA alive in the jungle (Can You Feel The Love Tonight).
Nala urges him to take his rightful place as king but, still ashamed, Simba refuses.
Rafiki appears and helps Simba remember his father (He Lives In You).
With newfound courage, Simba agrees to return to the Pridelands.
Timon and Pumbaa distract the hyenas (Luau Hawaiian Treat) while Nala rallies the lionesses.
Simba confronts his uncle, the truth of Mufasa's murder is revealed and Scar runs away, pursued by angry hyenas.
With peace restored in the Pridelands, Simba takes his place as king and the circle of life continues (Finale).
