What: Canterbury Taipans Swimming – Fun ‘Radical Relay’ Club Night!

A mixture of fun swimming relays, team games and two formal swimming races.

When: 3:45pm – 6:00pm, THIS Thursday 2 November 2023.

Where: Canterbury Taipans Aquatic Centre – Canterbury College.

– Via Sports Precinct Gate, 182 Old Logan Village Road, Waterford with plenty of onsite parking.

Who: OPEN PUBLIC EVENT | ALL AGES | BUT: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM 50M FREESTYLE UNAIDED.

Event Schedule

3:45pm – Swimmers Check-In & Registration.

4:00pm – Warm-Ups Commence Under Coach Supervision.

4:30pm – Relay Events Begin.

Swimming ‘Radical Relay’ Event Summary

Teams of FOUR swimmers will be formed by the Squad Coaches.

Teams will contain mixed but even groups of boys and girls of different ages and swimming abilities.

All competitors and teams will compete in every race with points awarded per event.

2023 ‘Radical Relay’ Champions – First, Second & Third – will be awarded based on total points accumulated throughout the event.

Swimming ‘Radical Relay’ Event Program

  • 200m Individual Medley: ‘Match My Time’ Event: Part 1 – Set a time you will try to match later in Part 2.
  • 200m Freestyle.
  • Kickboard Challenge – Legs Only Event.
  • Noodle Drag – Arms Only Event.
  • 400m Freestyle.
  • Backstroke Duckie Balance – Balance a toy duck on your forehead while doing backstroke.
  • Double Team Swim – Two Swimmers: One holds the other’s ankles. | Front swimmer provides the arm power, while the back swimmer provides the leg power.
  • 200m Individual Medley: ‘Match My Time’ Event: Part 2 – Get the closest time to your team’s time set in Part 1, not the fastest time.
