Using AI In Year 8 Science: Particle Theory & Phase Changes | Mr James Jenkins

On Friday, my Year 8 Science Class was reviewing particle theory and phase changes.

And I wanted an interactive digital simulation to use alongside the physical demonstration.

I love how easy it has become to work with Microsoft’s Copilot AI to create customised HTML-based tools for learning.

My first short prompt almost got me what I needed, but I didn’t have it quite right.

I then uploaded an image to show how I wanted the transitions to look, which it understood perfectly.

The next iteration was spot on!

Particle Theory: This theory explains that all matter is made up of tiny particles that are in constant motion and interact with each other.

Phase Changes: These are physical transformations of matter (such as melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation) that occur when energy is added or removed, causing particles to rearrange.
