Rick Roser Prep Indigenous Perspectives Incursion | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery
Today, our Prep classes participated in a popular Aboriginal culture, art and storytelling incursion.
Throughout this term and year, students have been exploring many important aspects around Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
They have been discovering and reflecting upon how these First Nations traditions, people, family, communications, stories and events are similar or different to their own families and cultures.
This incursion offered our Preppies the chance to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories – both from the past, and as they are expressed today through art, digital media, stories, drama and dance.
Our presenter Mr Rick Roser engaged the classes in various activities such as boomerang throwing, fire-making demonstrations, natural body and face painting, and creating emu feather hair decorations, that supported their learning and emphasised the importance of Aboriginal culture.
