eSports: The FUSE Cup Just Dance & Super Smash Bros. Two-Day Tournament | Recap & Photos

On Tuesday, Canterbury College's Years 5-8 Just Dance Team hit the dance floor at The Fuse Cup Logan Tournament.

Junior and Senior Schools alike across Logan gathered at our CEC, each hungry for the coveted FUSE Cup trophy.

But our Just Dance dynamos stole the show, spinning, twirling, and grooving their way to gold in first place.

Today, our Super Smash Bros. Years 9-10 Squad unleashed a flurry of moves, combos, and special attacks, battling it out in the virtual arena.

While victory eluded us this time around, our students were hyped to witness the epic showdown against our neighbouring schools.

Year 11 Wellbeing: The 'Party Safe' Program With Red Frogs Australia

Year 11 Wellbeing: The 'Party Safe' Program With Red Frogs Australia

Today, our Year 11 students participated in an essential incursion during their Wellbeing class: the 'Party Safe' program.

Led by the renowned Red Frogs Australia, this initiative plays a vital role in ensuring our students' safety in alcohol or drug-fuelled environments.

Andy Gourley, the passionate founder and director of Red Frogs Australia, delivered the program to educate students on safe partying behaviours.

Now equipped with knowledge of navigating various environments, such as after-parties and music festivals, students are prepared to handle potential challenges.

We hope this encourages meaningful discussions at school and home, fostering socially responsible behaviour among these young adults.

During this morning's 2024 Beenleigh ANZAC Day March & Commemorative Service, our staff and students marched solemnly, adorned with rosemary or poppy pins and cherished family ️ war medals.

They paid tribute to the ANZAC legacy, honouring those who have served or are currently serving with deep respect and gratitude.

The ANZAC Ode
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them…

Future Leaders Academy Report – Ayesha | Year 11 Student

Future Leaders Academy Report – Ayesha | Year 11 Student

During the first week of Term 2, I spent my time in Rarotonga, Cook Islands attending the Future Leaders - Academy.

Founded in 2013, this academy is offered to students throughout the Pacific Region who are seeking to develop their leadership skills, or simply grasp an idea of what leadership looks like through the various activities that are involved.

Within this week I participated in several amazing opportunities - such as business visits to resorts on the islands with Air New Zealand, learning more about local environment and humanitarian issues, beach clean-ups, a cross island hike, cultural activities and youth wellbeing discussions.

For each activity, team leaders were chosen and expected to properly guide and lead their team to achieve all set tasks and goals for the day.

We were also privileged to learn three beautiful waiatas (songs) from each attending nation and a haka to present on the last day at our graduation ceremony.

The course included meeting New Zealand’s High Commissioner to the Cook Islands (Tui Dewes) and Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives Gerry Brownlee, with many other members of New Zealand’s parliament in attendance.

This wonderful experience allowed me to be surrounded by many other likeminded youth and aspiring leaders from across Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands.

The ability to turn differences into strengths and bond naturally came at ease, as we participated in breathwork stations, team bonding activities and many leadership skills workshops, all while exploring the beautiful islands.

From the eight days that I spent in the Cook Islands, I have not only made lifelong friends and memories, but I have also learnt very powerful lessons that I know will help me in the future.

Years 10 and 11 French Excursion To Micro-Folie Exhibition

On 26 March our Years 10 and 11 French students visited the Micro-Folie Exhibition at QUT, hosted by Alliance Française.

Micro-Folie is a digital museum that allows students to immerse themselves in French culture and art and explore renowned works from famed French, European, and international institutions such as the Louvre Museum, the Palace of Versailles, and the Picasso Museum.

Following a viewing of masterpieces by Vincent Van Gogh, students took part in a workshop facilitated by Alliance Française. ️️‍

Alliance Française de Brisbane is part of a worldwide network of 850 Alliance Française centres, supported by the French Government, which aim to promote the French language and francophone culture around the world.

This excursion was an excellent opportunity for students to engage with French native speakers and deepen their understanding of the importance of art in French culture.

It was a great experience!
