Year 2 Spanish Class | Describing Animals!
¡Hola!
In Term 3, our Year 2 students have been on an exciting journey in their Spanish classes, learning how to describe animals.
Today, they really put their creativity to the test and crafted their very own clay animals.
What a great way to start wrapping up a busy term!

2023 Canterbury Dance Spectacular + Father's Day FREE Family BBQ | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery

Last Friday evening, we held our annual (and very popular with 841 RSVPs!) Father's Day FREE Family BBQ and Canterbury Dance Spectacular at the Canterbury Events Centre.
Our Canterbury Families celebrated an early Father's Day with cheese kransky hot dogs, bratwurst sausage hot dogs, American-style hot dogs, beef burgers, veggie burgers and soft drinks, plus lolly bags for the kids.
The first 100 Dads also claimed their free Canterbury umbrellas or fancy toiletry bags as gifts, before heading inside the CEC for our Dance Spectacular.
It was 'glitz and glamour' as our 12 student dance groups performed, filling the stage with movement, colour and undeniable talent, across a wide variety of jazz and contemporary styles.
Well done to everyone who made this large family event such a happy success!

Year 7 Parents & Carers Coffee Morning Invitation | 7:45am - 8:30am, Monday 11 September @ Our Yalburru Community Cafe

Dear Year 7 Parents and Carers,
We are fast approaching the end of your child's first year of High School and we are sure this has been quite a learning curve for them (and perhaps for some of you too).
The transition into Year 7 is a significant milestone and we are delighted to have you and your son or daughter as part of our Canterbury school community.
To support you and your child ahead of their final Term 4, we invite you to have a tea or coffee with us, and ask any questions or raise any concerns you might have with the Secondary School Leadership Team.
This event will also provide an opportunity for you to connect with fellow parents and carers, and share your thoughts and experiences on the journey so far.
We have developed our Orientation Program over the past few years to support a smooth transition into Secondary School, and for it to be informative for both parents/carers and students.
Your insights are essential to us, as they help us continually improve our Orientation Program, ensuring that it caters to your needs and expectations.
We value any feedback on how well our Orientation Program has prepared your son or daughter for Canterbury, as we begin preparations to welcome our 2024 Year 7 students...

Wednesday's Sumo Robot Scrimmage | Congratulations Taipans Roboneers! 2ND PLACE!
Wednesday's Sumo Robot Scrimmage | Congratulations Taipans Roboneers! 2ND PLACE!

Our Taipan Roboneers participated in an exciting Sumo Robot Scrimmage on Wednesday morning over at AB Paterson College in Arundel.
Our students built their own battle-ready LEGO Sumo Robots, then showcased our school values, as they worked alongside other schools to learn, collaborate and challenge each other.
Teams competed to dominate the arena, knocking their opponents out of the ring.
Victors celebrated as competitors modified their robot designs and instructional coding for the next round.
At the end of the preliminary event, the remaining participants from each of the four arenas, competed for a spot on the winners podium.
So... Congratulations to one of our Canterbury teams who won second place!
Well done to all our teams who participated in this lively and enjoyable academic event.

Goldsworthy House | Form Challenge Cup Presentations: Video Competition!
Goldsworthy House | Form Challenge Cup Presentations: Video Competition!

This afternoon, the Goldsworthy House Griffins presented their form class short films, based around one of our core values: Courage.
Often when we think about courage, we picture great feats - like jumping out of a plane, standing up for what we believe in, or succeeding on the sporting field when we were not given any chance.
Goldsworthy’s form classes were asked to produce a short film highlighting the courage it sometimes takes to achieve academically.
Having the courage to step outside your 'comfort zone', and doing something as simple as asking for help, is one form of personal courage that is often overlooked.
For many students it is difficult to take this step, and this is why we chose: Courage To Achieve Academically as the theme for our films.
As the Goldsworthy Head of House, I and our seven fantastic form teachers, were impressed by the work presented.
It certainly made the task of selecting a winner that much more difficult for Mr Mills and Ms Dixon.
There were seven fantastic films, but unfortunately only one winner, and that winner is Goldsworthy 3 - the Tiffany Griffins.
Massive congratulations to all those that worked hard to put this film together and for Ms Wu’s input over the past few weeks.
Tiffany Griffins #1
Sincerely
Mr Warren Musk
