2024 Canterbury Alumni Network Year 12 Graduation Breakfast & Final Chapel Service | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery
With their external exams finally over, our relieved and happy Year 12 cohort reconvened with a large number of their teachers, co-curricular coordinators, Senior School Management and College Executives, over a buffet breakfast today in the Canterbury Functions Centre.
The annual Canterbury Alumni Network Year 12 Graduation Breakfast and Final Chapel Service officially begins the Year 12s’ last three days of school, before the evening’s Valedictory Dinner and Friday’s College Guard Of Honour and major Graduation Ceremony.
Among the 145 guests were Canterbury alumni and current teachers Mr Nick Gillin and Mr Andrew Porter, plus two other graduated luminaries who were both past School Captains, in Mr William Boyd (Class of 2000) and Mr William Glass (Class of 2017 – and that year’s School Dux).
Each graduating student received a native seedling gift at breakfast, as a living reminder of their time at Canterbury, plus a bookmark containing the College Prayer at the Final Chapel Service hosted by College Chaplain Father Dan Talbot, with his inspiring words for the outgoing Seniors.
The Alumni Guest Speaker was Year 2000 School Captain Mr William Boyd who spoke about resilience, perseverance and self-belief in the big wide world, and how Canterbury College will always remain the students’ schooling ‘home’ and the origins of their future friendship ‘tribe’.
During 2024, various Year 12s attending the breakfast reached their Red and Silver Colours.
So they deservedly received their certificates and acknowledgments from the Head of Senior School Mrs Rebecca Adamson and their respective Heads of House to conclude this first event before chapel.
Finally, a big ‘thank you’ to our wonderful staff and student caterers for all their hard work preparing and serving breakfast, and to our student musicians for coming in and performing during the meal.
Our ‘Class Of 2024’ is invited to join Canterbury’s Private Alumni Facebook Group with 2,168 members today and growing – FB GROUP LINK

2024 Junior School Christmas Gift Donation Trees | DONATIONS OPEN THIS TUESDAY 29 OCTOBER
Our Junior School Student Leaders have set up Christmas Gift Donation Trees in our Junior School Admin Foyer, ELC Foyer and Junior School Library, marking the start of the 2024 Canterbury College Christmas Gift Appeal in support of Anglicare Southern Queensland.
Our Senior School will follow shortly this week, BUT all gift donations can still be given to our Senior School Admin Office Reception in the meantime, to place under their tree.
As we enter this season of joy, reflection and giving, we have a special opportunity to extend our generosity to children in foster care, and families facing serious hardships.
Anglicare, with over 150 years of service, supports vulnerable Queenslanders with compassion, helping them live with dignity and hope.
We invite our Canterbury Community to donate gifts by placing them under any of the Christmas donation trees from this Tuesday 29 October onwards.
Requested items include:
- Gift vouchers for popular stores and theme parks
- Non-perishable Christmas foods and treats
- Toys, games, sporting equipment and books.
Please ensure any donations are labelled for Anglicare, and are either new or unopened, and unwrapped or wrapped in clear cellophane.
Each donation brings joy and a message of hope to children in foster care, reminding them they are valued and supported by their local community.
Thank you in advance for helping us share the true spirit of Christmas!

2024 Canterbury College Christmas Appeal | Supporting Anglicare Southern Queensland
2024 Canterbury College Christmas Appeal | Supporting Anglicare Southern Queensland
A message from our College Chaplain Father Dan Talbot…
Entering the Christmas season, a time of joy, reflection and giving, we have the chance to extend our generosity to those in need.
This year, we are partnering with Anglicare Southern Queensland for our 2024 Canterbury College Christmas Appeal.
Anglicare is a very highly respected charity with over 150 years’ experience providing care and support to vulnerable Queenslanders.
As part of the Anglican Church, Anglicare actively helps those in need, including children in foster care, the elderly, and individuals facing serious hardships.
They live their mission daily through compassionate support, helping the most vulnerable live with dignity and hope.
So we invite you to donate gifts for children in foster care, by placing them under the Christmas trees located in our ELC, Junior School, or Senior School Administration buildings from next week starting Tuesday 29 October.
We are accepting a wide variety of items including:
- Gift Vouchers for Target, Big W, Myer, Woolworths, Coles and the Dreamworld, Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild Theme Parks.
- Gift Vouchers for music, clothing stores and video games
- Non-perishable Christmas food items and Christmas-themed treats
- Board games, LEGO, building blocks, puzzles and activity books
- Gift Vouchers for movie tickets and books
- Sporting equipment – including bikes, scooters and skateboards
- Toys for all age groups.
Please Note: All gifts must be…
- Labelled for Anglicare Southern Queensland
- Brand new, unopened and unused
- Unwrapped, or wrapped in clear cellophane so the contents are visible.
Our Years 8 and 9 students will also pack food items into hampers for families to enjoy during the Christmas season.
For many children in foster care, Christmas can be a difficult time filled with uncertainty.
Your donations will bring joy and hope to these children, showing them that they are genuinely cared for by their local community and not forgotten.
Thank you in advance for sharing the true spirit of Christmas.
Father Dan Talbot
College Chaplain
A message from Anglicare…
“Christmas is a time for giving and sharing joy with loved ones.
It’s a time for giving, a time for reflection, and a time for hope.
Across our services, we have many clients who won’t have friends or family to spend the festive season with.
Clients, who will struggle to provide their children with a Christmas meal, let alone presents or activities these holidays.
You can help make this Christmas bright for someone in need.
By donating a gift, you are letting them know they are not alone.”
