Amanda von Kanel Earns Prestigious Recognition In 2024 The Educator Hot List
Canterbury College is delighted to announce its Director of Student Development and Senior School Teacher, Mrs Amanda von Kanel’s inclusion in the prestigious 2024 The Educator Hot List – a comprehensive round-up that highlights the best in Australia’s education industry.
As an impartial authority in the education sector, The Educator conducted an exhaustive research study spanning four months, to identify and showcase the industry’s top performers.
In this thorough assessment, Canterbury’s Amanda von Kanel emerged as one of the distinguished contributors to the industry.
The Educator’s 30+ strong Intelligence Unit determined the winners by following a rigorous process and selection criteria, which included interviewing objective industry professionals, and conducting extensive research with schools and their related educational bodies.
Mr Chris Sweeney, Managing Editor for Special Reports at The Educator, shared his insights on the selection process and stated: “Amanda von Kanel has had a major impact on the quality and delivery of education at her school and in the wider community over the past 12 months.”
“She has clearly demonstrated the ability to merge academic theory with ‘real world’ applications, and implement her programs and innovations in a way that offers Canterbury students very high quality – and even award winning – educational experiences.
“So it’s wonderful to be able to publicly acknowledge Amanda’s hard work, dedication and industry knowledge, has really placed her at the leading edge of excellence in Australian education.”
College Principal Mr Dan Walker added his praise today for Mrs von Kanel’s achievement.
“At Canterbury, we recognise Amanda’s amazing stewardship of our student leadership, entrepreneurship and service programs,” he said.

About 2024 The Educator Hot List:
The Educator received nominations for the tenth annual Hot List between 29 July and 23 August this year.
The team obtained details of the nominees’ achievements and contributions to the profession.
Nominees were then evaluated based on the overall impact of their work in the K–12 education sector over the past 12 months.
They needed to be able to demonstrate expertise in linking theory and practice, and designing and implementing innovations that provide students with high-quality educational experiences.
Although narrowing down the list of candidates was challenging, the selection process was extremely worthwhile.
Thanks to the achievements of the 50 winners who represent the cutting edge of educational excellence in Australia.
