Homestay Families
Our international students will live with carefully-selected Homestay Families who are committed to their care and wellbeing.
Many of these families have children attending Canterbury College.
Our homestay families will ensure each international student experiences every facet of Australian life – through family meals, day trips, cultural outings and general conversation.
Students will gain an understanding of Australian culture and be able to practise their English in a relaxed and supportive family atmosphere.
Homestay Families Will:
- Provide a caring and supportive environment and treat the student as one of their own family members.
- Provide a comfortable and clean bedroom for each student that is considered their private space.
This room will be well ventilated, adequately lit, and will have a comfortable bed with clean linen, a wardrobe, desk and chair for study. - Provide three nutritious meals per day and snacks as required.
- Provide transport to and from the College each school and sports day, and be located within a reasonable distance of our Waterford campus.
Mandatory Blue Cards
Queensland has strict laws relating to the protection of children, so all homestay families must be screened by the Queensland Government and hold a Working With Children Blue Card.
