Junior School Parents & Carers Information Evening | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery
On Thursday evening 6 February 2025, we welcomed Junior School parents and carers for an informative, social and engaging event.
This function provided an opportunity for families to connect with each other and Canterbury staff, learn about plans for the year ahead, and gain valuable insights into supporting their children’s educational journey.
Head of Junior School Karen Roman, addressed all attendees with an overview of the 2025 School Year, which was followed by a series of subject-specific workshops.
Parents and carers had the choice to attend two of the four sessions available, each focusing on essential topics for supporting their children’s learning and development.
These workshops included:
Making The Most Of MyCC – A presentation by Junior School parent Leanne Suckling, which provided information about how to use MyCC effectively, and how to stay on top of the information sent by the College.
New To Canterbury? Setting Your Child Up For Success – A presentation by Head of Junior School Karen Roman, with information for new families, which included a brief summary of how the Junior School operates, and how you can best support your child’s learning journey at the College.
Helping Your Child With Homework – A presentation by Assistant Head of Junior School Alisha Richardson, which offered advice on how to effectively support time management while targeting the most beneficial ways to support your child’s learning at home.
Supporting Your Child To Develop A Growth Mindset – A presentation by Assistant Heads of Junior School Andrew Powell and Brittany Sinclair, which gave information about how to support your child to be confident and capable as they grow in their crucial middle years.
After these workshops, teachers from each year level in Prep to Year 6 led their own information sessions, providing detailed insights into topics such as learning strategies, student wellbeing and the school’s co-curricular programs.
We would like to thank all the parents and carers who attended this important event.
Continuing to work together best ensures the success of our students in 2025 and beyond.
