In preparation for moving into Year 6 in 2024, our Year 5 students have undertaken a Character Builders Incursion today, which provided strategies for effective team-building and hands-on leadership. ✅
With a significant focus on working outside one's comfort zone, connecting and creating positive peer culture, and learning social techniques for effective teamwork, our Year 5 students are well on their way to becoming outstanding leaders for their younger peers in Junior School.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: 2023 Canterbury Mother's Day Breakfast | 6:45am – 8:45am, Friday 12 May @ Our Yalburru Café Precinct
Dear All,
Thanks for the HUGE response to our event invitation below.
With 469 guests in 2021 and 550 guests in 2022, we are breaking new ground at 749 RSVPed guests already as at 2pm today – Thursday 4 May!
With this much bigger number in mind, unfortunately we have to cap the event at 800 guests for catering, space and budgetary reasons, and to deliver a quality service event for all attendees.
5:30PM UPDATE: This event is now fully booked out!
If ANY parents, carers, siblings or students are no longer attending, please email Canterbury's Communications Director Stephen Buckley with your booking name/s, so he can remove your reservation/s and help some other (hopeful) Canterbury parents sitting on the event waiting list - THANK YOU! EMAIL -
We are also pleased to announce we now have gifts for the first 300 Mums, based on the overwhelming response to our annual breakfast.
Finally, to avoid the situation where students are queuing for Boost Juice or Gourmet Coffee Van beverages independently of this event, all Canterbury students will need to present a ticket to these vendors to be served.
These tickets can ONLY be collected by entering the event with your mother or parent or carer - at which time your FREE ticket will be given to you.
It is our Mother’s Day Breakfast afterall, so we really want our students coming along and sitting with their Mum or parent/s or carer/s, and saying thanks for everything they do.
Of course, Mums, parents, carers and any non-Canterbury siblings don’t require a ticket – just current Canterbury students obviously wearing their school uniform.
We look forward to seeing you all on Friday morning 12 May!

New & Improved High Road Carpark Spaces | CEC & Junior School
New & Improved High Road Carpark Spaces | CEC & Junior School
Who’s loving our new and improved High Road Carpark spaces beside the CEC and Junior School Admin Office?
Now this is ONLY Stage One for this High Road Carpark, just to urgently get more waiting/queuing traffic off the road at peak times, to help stop cars clogging up that nearby roundabout - which prevents our neighbours trying to leave the adjoining Woodlands Estate.
So this was the recommended first stage layout from a professional traffic flow and parking engineering firm, to move our waiting traffic from off the road and onto our campus land instead.
Thanks for all your feedback on Facebook today, and we think you are going to be very happy when Stage Two is underway later this year...

What you can expect…
Through emotionally engaging stories and practical strategies, this session will help parents and carers understand the benefits of letting go of shame, perfection, ego and control.
It will combine powerful research with candid storytelling, along with a few laughs to help support what is arguably the toughest job in the world... being a parent or carer!
Why a Parent & Carer presentation?
When building positive mental health in schools, we know the best impact happens when we work together.
This ‘Authentic Connection’ presentation helps to do just that, by sharing those same evidence-based strategies being taught in the Canterbury classrooms, so they can be practised at home and beyond.
Attendees will also be reminded of the importance of their own wellbeing.
We bring the best versions of ourselves to our family and community, when we make time to look after ourselves…
CLICK HERE for more information about The Resilience Project adopted by Canterbury College as part of its campus-wide Wellbeing Program for students, staff, parents and carers.
The Resilience Project
We deliver emotionally engaging programs and provide evidence-based, practical wellbeing strategies to build resilience.
The mental health statistics in this country are confronting.
Our mission is to teach positive mental health strategies to help people become happier and more resilient.
We share emotionally engaging stories with hundreds of schools, workplaces and communities to help make the topic of mental health more accessible.
The research is clear – the more positive emotion you experience, the more resilient you will be.
For that reason we focus on three key pillars proven to cultivate positive emotion: Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM).
Our programs also have a strong focus on Connection, Purpose, Kindness, Emotional Literacy and Physical Health.

Australian Youth Rugby 7s Training Camp: All The Best To Year 10 Student Nikeisha Ngaru
Australian Youth Rugby 7s Training Camp: All The Best To Year 10 Student Nikeisha Ngaru
Congratulations to our Year 10 student Nikeisha Ngaru who got the call up yesterday to attend her first Australian Youth Rugby 7s Training Camp.
She is now down in New South Wales training for the next three days.
Unfortunately, Nikeisha is too young to be considered for the Youth Commonwealth Games in August, as athletes have to be turning 17/18 years-old to compete.
However, Nikeisha is eligible for the Australian Youth and Australian School Teams.
These two teams will compete at the World Schools Rugby Festival in December over in Thailand.
This is an awesome opportunity for Nikeisha to further develop her skills and get amongst the next generation of Rugby 7s talent, while experiencing an elite training camp.
