Friday's August Studio Dance Recital | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery
Our Performing Arts Theatre came alive last Friday night 18 August, as Canterbury's Studio Dancers presented an entertaining Dance Recital.
It featured the exceptional talents of dance students from our Early Learning Centre (ELC) right through to Year 12.
Their performances showcased the hard work and dedication of these young dancers, as they took the spotlight to present solo and small group routines, which they have been perfecting during their weekly studio lessons.
Spanning from the youngest performers taking their first steps on stage, to the seasoned expertise of our seniors, a shared thread of big smiles wove through the recital, as each dancer performed with confidence and flair.
Studio Teacher, Miss Taylah Newton, is very proud to witness the growth and progress of our dance students this year – so congratulations Canterbury dancers!

2024 Hydrogen GP: Grand Prix | Student Expressions Of Interest: REGISTER NOW!
Hello everybody!
We are trying to determine interest in taking part in the Hydrogen GP challenge again next year.
The Horizon Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) is a competition that allows you to learn about the uses of Hydrogen as a fuel for the future, while working as part of a team.
Your main task? To build and modify a remote controlled car to take part in an endurance race in early Term 2 next year.
This will be a one-afternoon-a-week in-term commitment, and possibly more, as the big endurance race gets closer.
If you're interested in taking part, please send me an email at -
This video is from the finals this year, and shows what to expect from the endurance race itself...

Today's Years 7 & 8 Spanish Flamenco Incursion | Photos & Event Wrap
This morning, our Years 7 and 8 Spanish Class students stepped into the world of flamenco with an interactive incursion.
Mr Diego Perez, a member of the International Dance Council - CID (UNESCO), from Flamenco House Brisbane, presented a very knowledgeable lesson on flamenco's history.
Then he taught our students some moves to awaken the dancer or 'bailaor/bailaora' inside them.
This workshop covered the four schools of Spanish Dance: Folklore, Bolera, Classical and Flamenco, and also introduced the various Flamenco props or 'Complementos' used.
¡Olé!

And I want to express my thanks for all the conversations and feedback we’ve had from parents and members on the Aquatic Centre and Swimming Club.
Now, nothing builds a great Swimming Club like fun, family-oriented Club Nights.

COME & MEET THE NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM | PERFECT TIME TO JOIN CANTERBURY TENNIS!
Hello Everybody,
Andrew and I have both enjoyed getting the chance to chat with quite a few parents, and appreciate all the honest feedback we’ve received about sorting better booking systems, payment processes, coaching programs etc.
I would love to keep these conversations going – and meeting more parents, students and members, so I’m organising a FREE Informal BBQ Information Evening.
As we build our new vision for Canterbury Taipans Tennis, we want parents and participants to be part of this process from the ground up, as we look to grow with a happy membership base.
As a parent with three children myself – all heavily involved in sports, I know that a sense of belonging to your local community is a vital part of any club, and we want to foster that spirit.
So come and say hi and have a chat about the club and all things Tennis!
Even though I’m only a few weeks into my role here at the Canterbury Taipans, I have to say I’m already proud to be part of this Tennis community.
I can’t wait to build a great club with you all!

REMINDER: Logan's RNA (Ekka) Show Public / School Holiday THIS Monday 14 August!
REMINDER: Logan's RNA (Ekka) Show Public / School Holiday THIS Monday 14 August!
Canterbury College will be CLOSED THIS Monday 14 August for the annual Logan RNA (Ekka) Show Public / School Holiday.
Our Early Learning Centre AND Canterbury Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Service AND Canterbury Aquatic, Tennis & Athletics Sports Centre will also NOT be operating.
The following Wednesday 16 August is Brisbane’s RNA (Ekka) Show Public Holiday, and is NOT a Logan Area Public Holiday, so our school will operate as per normal on this Wednesday.
Enjoy your upcoming long weekend everybody!
NB: These holidays are based on the school's physical address in the Logan City Council OR Brisbane City Council Local Government Areas, NOT the home suburbs where our parents are coming from, which causes confusion sometimes.
