2023 Next Step Year 12 Completers Survey | For Our 'Class Of 2022' Graduates
THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS SENT ON BEHALF OF THE QLD MINISTER FOR EDUCATION...
2023 Next Step Year 12 Completers Survey
All students who completed Year 12 last year will soon receive an invitation to do the Next Step Survey.
This short five-minute survey asks graduates about the study and/or work they have been doing since finishing school.
The survey results help our schools improve their senior programs and prepare students for work and further study.
We also ask their parents, siblings and friends to encourage our graduates to complete the survey.
If their contact details have changed, please assist survey interviewers with their updated details, or please forward the survey to their new address so they can participate.
Graduates may receive an invitation by mail, email or phone.
The survey can be completed online or by phone.

Here is your weekly wrap-up of our TAS Round 7 and Junior TAS Round 6 results from Saturday Away against St Paul's School in Bald Hills...
Congratulations to all our athletes on a dominant round against St Paul's. 👏
And a special mention goes to our Intermediate Girls Tennis teams for their huge wins over the opposition - well done girls! 🎾🤩
We will be playing our last round of regular fixtures this Saturday at Home against Cannon Hill Anglican College (CHAC), followed by Finals Round on Saturday 25 March.
A reminder that ALL teams will be competing over the next two weekends, so all players are expected to be at their matches - thank you!

As part of Canterbury's International Women's Day celebrations, our Years 11 and 12 female Prefects and Captains attended the Women Supporting Women workshop run by Jen Buchanan from Future Anything.
They discussed the features of a good leader, and how to avoid becoming a bad leader, and identified the important qualities and values around what it means to be a Canterbury leader and more.
Here are the outcome 'pledges' from our Years 11 and 12 leaders:
Our Year 11 Leaders: At Canterbury, we will try our best and strive towards inclusivity, while still remaining humble.
As leaders, we will honestly communicate with our peers to enable perspectives to be heard and equitable change to happen.
Our Year 12 Prefects: We aim to be passionate leaders that strive to achieve inclusivity through humility and honest communication.

This event supported The Centre For Women & Co. – A not-for-profit organisation that exists to educate, support and empower women and their families across the Redlands and Logan region.

Years 5 And 6 Boys: Rock & Water Program | Photos
Our Years 5 and 6 boys are currently participating in the Rock & Water Program over four weeks as part of their Wellbeing curriculum.
This program engages the students in physical team-building activities to assist with developing:
- Practical anti-bullying strategies.
- Alternatives to aggressive verbal and physical responses.
- A better ability to stay in control through grounding, centredness and mental focus.
- Increased self-respect, self-control and self-confidence.
- Enhanced resilience skills and wellbeing.
- Skills to identify and monitor reactive behaviour patterns.
The sessions are also aimed to promote:
- Communication skills.
- Development of compassion, understanding and sympathy.
- Boundary setting, simple self-defence and communication skills.
- Awareness of purpose and motivation in life.
- Intuition, mental strength, empathic feeling, positive feeling, thinking and visualising.
This program will support our male students to develop proactive strategies to navigate social situations and friendships, and assist them to be well-positioned for the transition into teenage-hood.

Years 5 And 6 Girls: The Sacred Sister Project - Educate Empower Inspire | Photos
Our Years 5 and 6 female students are currently taking part in The Sacred Sister Project over four weeks as part of their Wellbeing curriculum.
This program covers three main topics: Voice Of Judgement vs Voice Of Wisdom, Mindfulness On Social Media and Beautiful Bodies/Qualities Exercise.
The program will support our female students to develop proactive strategies to navigate social situations and friendships, and assist them to be well-positioned for their transition into teenage-hood.

Sumo Robotics Scrimmage Tournament Report | Our Taipan Roboneers In Action!
What an exciting Monday our Taipan Sumo Roboneers enjoyed!
We ventured over to Hillcrest Christian College, our gracious host school, for the first Sumo Robotics Scrimmage for 2023.
With teams across both Junior and Secondary Schools, the room was abuzz with excitement and anticipation.
Our students spent the morning showcasing school values as they worked alongside other schools to learn, collaborate and challenge each other.
Afterwards, teams tried to master the battle arenas, as their robots knocked opponents out of the ring.
Cheers rang out announcing the victors, while the defeated competitors went to modify their robot's design and operational coding to try all over again.
At the end of this event, those left standing in each of the four arenas played off for a place on the winners podium.
And... One of our Canterbury Roboneer teams was victorious finishing in FIRST PLACE!
A huge congratulations to all teams that participated in this spirited and fun event.

Some truly gifted Canterbury students made Quest Newspapers’ Friday list of 35 high-class young Queensland women making their way in 18 different sports, compiled and written by Andrew Dawson and Grace Hamilton – Friday 3 March 2023 | Albert & Logan News.
As International Women’s Day looms on Wednesday, we give you an insight into just some of the elite young Queensland women kicking sporting goals.
In a state bursting at the seams with high achievers, and in this snapshot, we highlight 35 youngsters who ensure Queensland continued to punch above its weight in interstate and international sport.
Here are Canterbury’s FOUR selected students from this list of 35...
Kaylee Tamala (Volleyball)
This Year 11 student at Canterbury College is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to court sports.
In 2022, she was a finalist for the Logan City Sports Awards after being named in the U15 Queensland merit teams for both volleyball and netball.
She was also awarded Most Valuable Player of the tournament at the U15 National School Girls Volleyball Championships, an accolade that makes her highly sought after in 2023.
Tamala is also a first-class sprinter, representing Canterbury as part of their Taipans Athletics Club in the TAS competition.
Holly Comyns (Netball)
After a breakout Nissan State Titles with the Carina Leagues Club Tigers, Comyns made her HART Sapphire Series Ruby team debut in 2022, while also winning Queensland Merit team selection for the U19s.
She is part of a ‘white hot’ group of young netballers surging through the Tigers ranks, which includes other talents from the rich Canterbury College nursery, with Tia Crombie and Aaliyah Shepperd.
Marli Cetinich (Volleyball)
Another Canterbury College prospect, Marli Cetinich, is a fellow Queensland volleyball talent in the making.
Over the years, she has represented South Coast at Queensland School Sport level, and has been selected on numerous occasions to wear the maroon jersey as a Queensland rep.
In early 2023, she competed at the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Tour and saw success with her teammate Daisey Mabin.
Tia Crombie (Netball)
Crombie cracked the HART Sapphire Sport Ruby ranks in 2022 along with Canterbury College peers Holly and Aaliyah.
Just weeks into her debut season, the 16-year-old was brought in to fill in for an injured player for the Sapphire Tigers side.
She went on to make her second Queensland squad, and was recently named in the final 12 for the 2023 National Netball Championships.
