May Music Month @ Canterbury Wrap-Up | Performances, Achievements & Awards!
Our Year 12 student Dylan You was invited to perform with his clarinet at the 4MBS Young Virtuosi Concert at SunPAC.
Our Year 9 student Isabella Oxenbridge was invited to perform on the piano at the Masterclass of Mr Piers Lane – Australia’s pre-eminent concert pianist, at the ABC Studios over in South Bank.
After the Masterclass, Piers invited Isabella to perform at the opening concert for the prestigious Sydney International Piano Competition in July.
Highly talented brothers Haydn and George Li have been selected through a rigorous audition process, to participate in the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s ACO Academy in Sydney this July, along with other gifted young string players from around the country.
The ACO Academy is a five-day intensive project held at ACO’s home at Pier 2/3 in Sydney.
Rylan Baird (Year 12), Luka Roberts and Haydn Li (Year 10), George Li (Year 7) and Canterbury alumna Lucia Hughes (Class of 2021), performed with the Queensland Youth Orchestra’s leading ensemble QYS, in the Earth Fire Water concert at QPAC under the direction of Mr Simon Hewett.
A number of Canterbury music students also participated in the Redlands and Toowoomba Eisteddfods.
