2022 Australian Youth Volleyball Championships @ Bendigo: Canterbury Students Competition Results
Canterbury College had five students travel down to Bendigo over the September holidays, representing Queensland at the 2022 Australian Youth Volleyball Championships (AYVC).
This competition is an elite Australia-wide volleyball tournament, including age groups from U14 to U18.
This year, teams travelled from all over the ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, SA and TAS to compete.
Our very own Lucas Ioapo (Year 8), Jodeci Faraimo-Saolele (Year 10), Marli Cetinich (Year 11), Jeremy Kriletich (Year 11) and Jalen Harrison (Year 12) were all selected to represent QLD.
Flying down to Bendigo for the competition from 25-29 September, our very own Taipans Volleyballers wore their QLD jerseys with pride, coming away with some formidable results.
Congratulations to Lucas, Marli, Jodeci, Jeremy and Jalen!
Lucas: U14 White – 2nd place.
Marli: U17 White – 6th place.
Jodeci: U17 Maroon – 1st place.
Jeremy: U18 Maroon – 2nd place.
Jalen: U18 White – 6th place.
Alongside these achievements at the AYVC, Jalen, Jeremy and Marli were invited by Volleyball Australia to extend their stay in Bendigo.
For an extra three days, they continued training alongside 50 of Australia’s best Volleyballers under some of Australia’s greatest coaches.
What an awesome experience and a testament to the hard work these athletes put in – both on and off the court.
Jeremy Kriletich has also been invited to attend an Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA) Camp this coming weekend.
The AVA headquarters is located within the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, and their primary objective is to identify and develop Olympic potential athletes for both Indoor and Beach Volleyball.
Jeremy flies down to Canberra this weekend, and has a second weekend camp in November with the AVA.
So all the best to Jeremy at these camps. Watch this space!
