Year 7 Mandarin | Calligraphy Lesson
This week, our Year 7 Mandarin students took their learning to the next level with a hands-on calligraphy lesson. Having spent the term mastering the foundations of Chinese characters, including stroke order, they put their skills into practice with traditional brush writing.
Calligraphy requires patience and focus, making it a great meditation activity. After practising basic strokes, students wrote the character 福, meaning luck or blessing, on red paper to take home. In Chinese culture, this character is often displayed on doors and walls to bring good fortune, especially during celebrations.
