Year 11 Building And Construction Class Makes New Seating In Canterbury’s ANZAC Garden
Yesterday, our Year 11 Building and Construction class finished off the practical requirements of their module on Site Preparations and Foundations.
Students have been learning about methods used in the construction industry to construct formwork to be used in concreting.
The Year 11 class have been trained in the use of a cement mixer, concrete placement and using hand trowels.
They are also trying a less used form of reinforcement in the concrete – Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC), over more traditional steel reinforcement.
The students have been enjoying applying their skills in real world applications, by constructing new seating to replace existing seats in our Canterbury ANZAC Garden.
Nice work gentlemen, and I think we would all agree, the finished product looks fantastic.
