UPDATE: Junior School Construction Project – Bareibun Precinct
Dear Parents and Students,
Except for some bad weather in January and February, the major construction project in the Junior School has been progressing well.
At this stage, our builders are anticipating the construction will be completed in late August / early September, for a practical completion and handover in advance of the September school holidays.
This means that Year 1 and 2 classes will likely be moving into C Block (Year 2 on the 2nd floor and Year 1 on the ground floor) over these September holidays.
After construction of C Block is completed, further minor demolition will be required, and the Junior School Meadow restoration and Easterly Street carpark and set-down/drop-off area will be completed in Term 4.
Therefore, the whole area will be completed for the start of the 2025 school year.
- Prep classrooms will receive a minor facelift in advance of a full refurbishment at the end of 2026.
- Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) will be moving permanently into a new space from January 2025.
- The amount of open play space will increase significantly as a result of these changes.
- The covered outdoor area (the roof which can now be seen on the skyline) will also add 500sqm of sheltered play space for the Junior School.
We are excited for the opening of this major new space for our students.
As well as new classrooms for Year 1 and 2, there will be a specialist Library for ELC to Year 3, a STEM specialist classroom, a dedicated Dance and Drama room, new toilets for students and staff, and an additional new entrance to the Junior School from Easterly Street.
Additional carparking and a larger set-down and pick-up zone will also be engineered on the Easterly Street entrance.
Regards
Dan Walker
