Canterbury Named Finalist in Four Categories at the 2025 Australian Education Awards
Canterbury College is pleased to announce that it has been named a national finalist in four categories at the 2025 Australian Education Awards. These nominations highlight the College’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, strategic innovation, and whole-school growth.
Now in its eighth year, the Australian Education Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of schools, principals, teachers, and school support staff across the country. The awards recognise excellence in leadership, curriculum design, innovation, and student support across 29 categories. Finalists are selected based on rigorous criteria that reflect best practice in the K–12 education sector.
The winners will be announced at a black-tie gala event on Friday 8 August 2025 at The Star Event Centre in Sydney.
Canterbury College has been recognised as an Excellence Awardee in the following categories:
Deputy Principal of the Year – Meagan King
Since joining Canterbury in 2023, Meagan King has had a significant impact on the College’s strategic and cultural direction. Her leadership in professional development, curriculum innovation and student voice has positioned Canterbury as a leader in contemporary education.
Secondary School of the Year – Non-Government
This nomination acknowledges Canterbury’s strong academic performance, inclusive enrolments, and diverse co-curricular offerings across Prep to Year 12.
Best Use of Technology
Canterbury has been recognised for its seamless integration of digital learning tools and platforms across all year levels. As a Microsoft Showcase and Surface Lighthouse School, the College delivers a tech-enabled learning experience that prepares students for the future. Highlights include 1:1 Microsoft Surface programs, AI-enhanced tools, and a newly built Esports studio.
Best School Strategic Plan
The 2024–2027 Strategic Plan outlines the College’s vision across five pillars: Academic Culture, Student Development, Infrastructure, People & Culture, and Community Engagement. Key initiatives include the launch of the World Ready Diploma, significant campus developments, and new frameworks for staff development and student leadership.
