REMINDER: Junior School Mother's Day Gifts Stall THIS Friday!
A final reminder that our Junior School Mother's Day Gifts Stall is on THIS Friday 12 May, ahead of the big day on Sunday…
Our parent volunteers have done an amazing job setting up and preparing a range of thoughtful gifts for our Canterbury Mums, and those other special people in our lives.
Please send your children into school with some cash and a bag to carry their goodies home in.
Our Junior School classes will rotate through the B19 Room Gifts Stall from 9:00am – 2:00pm making their big shopping decisions!
And finally – GOOD LUCK to everyone who entered our Mother’s Day Stall Raffle with the tickets sent home with your children the other day...
Secondary School Ethics Olympiad
Secondary School Ethics Olympiad
Selected students in the Secondary School sat comfortably around a table in our Pedagogy Room today, where they participated in the Ethics Olympiad via Zoom. ️
This Olympiad is a collaborative competition where students analyse and discuss real-life, timely issues online.
Unlike a debate, students are not assigned opposing views; instead, they support the position they feel is most authentic and win by exhibiting a more honest and thoughtful perception of the cases.

2023 Canterbury College Junior School Public Speaking Competition | Photos
Today, we held our 2023 Canterbury College Junior School Public Speaking Competition, where selected students from Years 3-6 aspired to entertain, persuade or inform their audience with a particular topic.
This practical approach gave our students hands-on experience to demonstrate the impact and influence of language on their audience.
Our judges awarded them points based on the structure of their speech, whether it was well-paced, had consistent volume, was clear and audible, and if it utilised technical or emotive vocabulary alongside their original context.
The student's body language was also critical in garnering points and enhancing delivery effectiveness.
Well done to these brave students for stepping up and participating in something most people fear!

Secondary School Gardening Club | Tuesday Lunchtimes @ College Plant Nursery (Near Canterbury Functions Centre)
Dear ALL Secondary Students,
We have a Canterbury Gardening Club available for Secondary Students.
Each In-Term Tuesday Lunchtime you can visit the school's Plant Nursery (NOT the campus kitchen garden), to learn more about plants and how they grow.
THIS INCLUDES TUESDAY THIS WEEK!
It's all about utilising propagation and how you can profit from plants!
We have a great variety of plants for you to work with.
You can come once to check us out, or every week - it's entirely up to you.
If you are keen, you may even get the okay to visit and work in our plant nursery without supervision.
So come and have a look - it may change your life and turn your thumbs green!
The Canterbury Plant Nursery is sort of 'tucked away' below the Canterbury Functions Centre, behind T Block's T5 and T4 rooms where the wire fencing is.
Yours in plants, environmentalism, fun and Canterbury,
Mr Paul Penny
