2024 Tennis Queensland Primary Schools Cup: NOMINATE NOW!

2024 Tennis Queensland Primary Schools Cup: NOMINATE NOW!

Tennis Queensland’s annual Primary Schools Tennis Cup is coming up later this year, so we are taking nominations from ANY Logan or Canterbury College Junior School students, interested in participating in this prestigious sporting event.

And you don’t have to be a current Canterbury Taipans Tennis Club Member to nominate.

The Tennis Queensland Primary Schools Cup (previously the Brisbane International Schools Challenge) is a mixed-team tennis competition open to all schools within Queensland.

Every school has the opportunity to nominate teams at Regional Qualification events, with the winners of each tie invited to compete at the State Final, to be held at the Brisbane Tennis Centre.

The competition runs over three different categories:

1. Red Ball involves students in Year 4 and below, and schools can enter teams in Division A – Mixed and Girls Only and/or Division B – Participation.

Red Ball is an entry-level competition that encourages participation, and is a great starting point for all players, with teams consisting of 8-10 students.

2. Orange Ball involves students in Year 5 and below, and schools can enter teams in a Mixed-Division competition that involves teams of 4-5 students.

3. Green Ball involves students in Year 6 and below, and schools can enter teams in a Mixed-Division competition that involves teams of 4-5 students.

Each team representing Canterbury College will need a Team Manager, so we please request the support of parents and carers to act as Team Managers, to help facilitate transport etc.

Canterbury sits in the South Coast (Gold Coast) catchment, so please see our Regional Qualification date of Friday 25 October on the Tennis Queensland calendar.

Doing well in this competition means your child/ren will gain recognition and the attention of Queensland tennis selectors, and potentially National Academy coaches.

Plus it will boost their confidence and improve their tennis skills, while they compete with the best players in the Sunshine State.

So I highly recommend participation in the Primary Schools Cup.

Please see below two links with more competition information, and contact me to nominate your child/ren – Head Tennis Coach Charlie Tsai –

AI is no longer a distant futuristic concept…

It is here and now, expanding exponentially, and easily accessible to everyone.

Schools are no exception and Canterbury is determined to keep pace with this technology and harness the best it has to offer in education to our students and staff.

The Australian Government recently introduced guidelines for AI’s use within schools, recognising its ability to support teaching and learning.

Many exciting developments involving AI are already taking place in our classrooms.

Mr James Jenkins – our Head of AI and Digital Transformation, gives you this easy guide into how we are currently integrating AI into Canterbury College's educational environment.

eSports: The FUSE Cup Just Dance & Super Smash Bros. Two-Day Tournament | Recap & Photos

On Tuesday, Canterbury College's Years 5-8 Just Dance Team hit the dance floor at The Fuse Cup Logan Tournament.

Junior and Senior Schools alike across Logan gathered at our CEC, each hungry for the coveted FUSE Cup trophy.

But our Just Dance dynamos stole the show, spinning, twirling, and grooving their way to gold in first place.

Today, our Super Smash Bros. Years 9-10 Squad unleashed a flurry of moves, combos, and special attacks, battling it out in the virtual arena.

While victory eluded us this time around, our students were hyped to witness the epic showdown against our neighbouring schools.
