Last night, our Winter Music Festival series opened with a bright start as Kaleidoscope lit up the CEC stage.
The concert celebrated the musical journey of our Junior School students, showcasing their progress since the beginning of the year.
A proud and supportive audience of parents, carers, family members, and staff gathered to enjoy the students’ very first public concert experience.
Performances featured our talented Junior Singers, All Star Strings, and Year 3 Strings ensembles.

On Monday 26 May – Wednesday 28 May, Year 8 Students headed to Brooyar for their Outdoor Education experience. Situated on the Mary River, just outside of Gympie, students enjoyed an action-packed program, while being with their friends and witnessing the picturesque sunrises and sunsets over the campgrounds.
Decision making was the central theme of the Year 8 Outdoor Education program, with students having to navigate and make decisions to the benefit of their group, while also stepping out of their comfort zone. Activities ranged from archery, stand up paddleboarding and canoeing, gold panning, lure making and abseiling the majestical cliffs of Point Pure.
A big thank you must be extended to Mr Jon Paul, Ms Bridget Ward, Mr Declan McBride, Mr Daniel Clark, Ms Kathy Simpson, Ms Danielle Johnston, Mr Glen Walker and Mr James Jenkins for helping facilitate this Outdoor Education experience for our students.

Rain or shine, the 2025 Canterbury Years 3–6 Interhouse Athletics Carnival ran full speed ahead today - complete with House colours, personal bests, and just a touch of drizzle for dramatic effect.
From Shot Put and Discus to Long Jump, High Jump and a jam-packed program of running races, our young athletes gave it their all across the field.
The suspense isn’t over yet - the Age Champions and the winning House will be revealed when we present the Interhouse Athletics Shield at the next Junior School Assembly on Thursday 12 June.

Our annual United Nations Celebration brings the College community together to honour the rich cultures that shape who we are—with a spectacular parade of nations, live performances, global cuisine, and more. Join us for a day of pride, unity, and celebration.
When: Friday 20 June 2025 | 10:00am – 2:15pm (Last Day of Term 2)
Where: Canterbury Events Centre (CEC) – Canterbury College. Entry via High Road Gate, Waterford
Parking: Available via High Road, Old Logan Village Road, and Easterly Street Gates.
Cost: Food, drinks, and activity stalls require pre-purchased $10 ticket booklets. Students can purchase ticket booklets from 16 June or on the day.

Families contributing food must:
- Complete a free online food safety course by 9 June
- Submit an information form for each dish or drink

Last night may not have gone QLD's way on the scoreboard (NSW 18 – QLD 6), but our Year 12s still scored a win in the fun department!
From free pizza and soft drinks to plenty of laughs and loud cheers (and maybe a few dramatic boos), the big screen Origin Party brought the spirit, the energy, and a whole lot of team pride.
Whether you were mocking a Maroon or booing a Blue, thanks for making it a night to remember.

Let’s Keep the Green Zone Flowing!
To help keep our school community safe and our Easterly Street car park flowing smoothly, please take a moment to read the important information below about using the Green Zone during drop-off and pick-up times.
Morning Drop-Off
Time: 8:00–8:30am (Supervised at the Meadow)
Location: Easterly Street Car Park – Green Drop-Off Zone
Who: Prep – Year 2 students
Helpers: Year 6 leaders in orange vests are available to walk children to the gate.
Two Options for Drop-Off:
- Use the Green Drop-Off Zone (stay in your car)
- Park in designated carparks if you prefer to walk your child/ren to the gate
Tip: Parents are encouraged to leave children with yard duty staff instead of waiting with them. This helps build resilience and supports peer socialising before class.
Afternoon Pick-Up
Time: After 3:15pm (supervised until 3:45pm)
Location: Easterly Street Car Park – Green Pick-Up Zone
Who: Prep – Year 1 students and older siblings
Pick-Up Instructions:
- Enter via Easterly Street Gate
- Follow the roundabout to the pick-up zone
- Stay in your vehicle – a teacher will bring your child/ren to you
- Drive slowly and exit left past the Early Learning Centre
Important Reminders:
- No parking in the Green Zone – it’s for moving vehicles only
- Park only in designated carparks

Our OSHC Vacation Care Program is running from Monday 23 June to Monday 14 July, 6.30am–6.00pm daily.
Kids will enjoy fun-filled days with a mix of planned activities, spontaneous play, excursions and incursions.
$75 per day (less CCS) includes all meals - breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Extra costs apply for excursions/incursions.
Bookings are essential via the Xplor App.
Please pack a hat, sun-safe clothing and suitable shoes.
We provide sunscreen and cater for dietary needs - just let us know when booking.

On Thursday 22 May, Canterbury’s Junior School was filled with joy as we celebrated our beloved tradition — Grandparents’ Day.
At lunchtime, the school grounds buzzed with laughter as grandparents joined their grandchildren for a relaxed picnic.
Families spread out on the grass and in shaded areas, sharing sandwiches and smiles.
Students proudly introduced their grandparents to friends and teachers, enjoying meaningful moments together.
Many also visited the Junior School Art Show in D05, where student creativity was on display.
After lunch, guests gathered in the CEC for a special Assembly led by Year 1 students.
Through song and dance, they honoured their grandparents with heartfelt performances.
Thank you to our Junior Singers and Ignite Dance Ensemble for adding to the joy.
We also acknowledged our newly trained Bridge Builder Mediators, each receiving a certificate for their leadership and commitment.

Building ANZAC Garden Benches: Concrete Skills, Lasting Impact
At Canterbury College, the Building and Construction Skills subject gives students practical, hands-on experience through real-world projects.
This year, students are again working on improving the ANZAC Garden — a significant reflection space on campus.
In their second year contributing to this area, the class is replacing old seating with new concrete seats. Skills gained from their previous project, making concrete pavers — like measuring, mixing, and formwork — have been essential.
Led by Mr Musk, students built formwork to ensure strong foundations for the seating. They’ve enjoyed applying their skills to a project that reinforces their learning and leaves a lasting impact on the school community.
The new seating is both functional and a proud reminder of the students’ effort and craftsmanship.
