Hola Canterbury Community!
Today, our Prep – Year 6 students enjoyed a vibrant Spanish Language Festival, celebrating the rich cultures of Spain, Central America and South America.
Our students participated in a variety of activities - including cultural arts and crafts, music and lots of dancing.
The festival gave students the chance to use their Spanish language skills while exploring the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, highlighting the importance of respecting and appreciating cultural diversity.
Some exciting Spanish-themed activities included: Sombrero Crafts; Alebrije and Euros Colouring; Day of the Dead Masks; Flag Bracelets; Bingo With Spanish Numbers, Colours and Animals; Spanish Trivia and a very popular Flamenco dance class.
A huge 'gracias' to our Senior School Spanish language students for supporting this cheerful event and helping make it such a success.
Big thanks to Flamenco House, a Brisbane-based company specialising in Spanish Dance Workshops, for their fun performance in our CEC!

Today, some of our Year 4 students showcased their culinary skills by preparing a Bok Choy Stir Fry during their Kitchen Garden class.
Guided by our ‘Professor Chef’, Mr Colin Mason, they expertly chopped capsicum, corn, ginger, spring onions and bok choy, which Mr Mason skilfully combined into mouthwatering dishes.
Our Canterbury Kitchen Garden Program aims to provide enjoyable food education, emphasising the rich flavours and health benefits of fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Through this program, students also explore significant topics such as food systems, native foods and cultures, food security and food sustainability.

On Tuesday, our Years 11-12 girls participated in the 'Beyond The Mascara: Healthy Authentic Femininity' workshop, facilitated by the Peer Power wellbeing organisation.
This genuinely engaging and interactive session was designed to empower our female students, and give them the opportunity to really reflect upon and embrace healthy perspectives of femininity in today's society.
The program focused on fostering confidence, compassion and personal capacity, while advocating for true self-worth, without the pressure of modern media imagery and constant comparison.
Our students actively participated, sharing their own personal insights and enjoying the well-structured activities.
