Last Friday evening 22 November, our youngest performers lit up the stage for the 2024 ELC – Year 2 End-Of-Year Christmas Concert held inside the CEC.

The evening was filled with yuletide joy as our ELC, Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students charmed the large and eager audience with their delightful singing and dancing.

Congratulations to all the students for their hard work in rehearsals, and for their wonderful performances on the night, and thanks to their dedicated teachers for guiding them over the past few weeks.

We also wish to thank our parents, carers and families for coming together to celebrate this much-loved event, which consistently draws one of our larger crowds of the year.

The performance videos for each year level are now available on MyCC, and the full photo gallery can be viewed on our Facebook Page HERE.

Canterbury eSports Success! | The Fuse Cup 2024 State & National Finals Results

Canterbury eSports Success! | The Fuse Cup 2024 State & National Finals Results

This year’s The Fuse Cup eSports State and National Finals, held on Friday and Saturday 15-16 November, were a spectacle of skill, strategy and determination.

Canterbury College was represented by six exceptional students, each bringing their A-game to the competition:

•    Rocket League: Lucas Noy and Bentley Horne.

•    Mario Kart: Lincoln Homann.

•    Just Dance: Ella Hay, Lillian Pollock and Xanthe Holland.

These talented players had already proven their mettle by winning the Logan Regional Division earlier in the year.

Rocket League: A Dominant Display

Lucas Noy and Bentley Horne, our Rocket League prodigies, stormed into the Semi-Finals thanks to their stellar performance in the regional meet.

They faced Cairns State High School, and with top precision and teamwork, secured a decisive victory.

The Grand Final pitted them against Southport’s Aquinas College, the Gold Coast champions.

In a wonderful display of skill, Lucas and Bentley triumphed 6-0, clinching the state title and setting their sights on the national championship.

Mario Kart: Heart-Pounding Races

Lincoln Homann took on the best in Mario Kart, racing against the Cairns and Sunshine Coast regional winners.

His journey to the Grand Final was filled with tense moments and high-speed thrills.

In the Grand Final, Lincoln faced off against the Gold Coast champions – Emmanuel College, and the Brisbane champions from Whites Hill.

Despite four incredibly close races, Lincoln narrowly missed out on the top spot.

His inspiring performance earned him well-deserved applause from the audience.

Just Dance: A Battle Of Rhythm

The Just Dance team, featuring Ella Hay, Lillian Pollock and Xanthe Holland, impressed the audience with their moves.

Competing against the Brisbane champions – Centenary State High School, and the Gold Coast winners – Hillcrest College, the team gave it their all against some tough competition.

Ella's performance was a standout, winning her song with flair, while Lillian and Xanthe also danced very well.

In the fiercely contested State Final, the Canterbury team secured a commendable 2nd place in Queensland.

National Finals: The Ultimate Showdown

The following day, Lucas and Bentley returned to the arena, determined to claim the Australian title in Rocket League.

Their Semi-Final match against the NSW state champions – Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School, was a masterclass in dominance, ending in a 5-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Mentone Grammar from Victoria overcame the South Australian champions – Scotch College, setting the stage for an epic Grand Final.

So in the Grand Final, Canterbury College faced Mentone Grammar in a clash of the titans.

Lucas and Bentley delivered a near-flawless performance winning 5-1.

The commentator couldn't help but praise their accurate, controlled play, highlighting their lack of unforced errors throughout the series.

Congratulations to our Australian champions – Lucas Noy and Bentley Horne!

Their journey from regional victors to national champions is a testament to their hard work, dedication and exceptional talent.
