Mr Daniel Walker – B.A. B.Ed. (UQ), M.Ed. (Monash), MACEL
Mr Daniel Walker is Canterbury’s fifth Principal, having joined the College in 2019.
As our Principal, Dan is committed to Canterbury College being known as a school which inspires ‘all-rounded’ World Ready success in its students.
Although he sees academic achievement as our number one priority, the engagement of all students across a range of sport, performing arts, entrepreneurship, service and leadership opportunities is our overarching goal.
Mr Walker’s previous pastoral, academic, co-curricular and human resources leadership roles, have engendered in him a clear idea of what makes a successful school.
He sees the great strength of Canterbury lies in our ability to deliver a seamless, age-appropriate education for all students from 3 to 18 years of age.
The concept of ‘journey’ through 15 years of education at Canterbury College – from our Early Learning Centre, Kindy and Prep through to Year 12, is an important part of what makes our school so special.
Our Principal holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government, History and Economics as well as a Bachelor of Education from the University of Queensland.
His Masters of Education in the field of organisational behaviour was awarded by Monash University.
Mr Walker has taught History, Economics and English during his career which spans boys, girls and coeducational schools.
As Principal, Mr Walker still teaches a weekly student class in-term, as do all other senior leadership staff at Canterbury College.
Prior to Canterbury, Mr Walker was the Deputy Principal of Seymour College in Adelaide.
Before that, he was the Deputy Head of Senior School at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) from 2011 – 2016.
He also served as Head of Humanities and then Deputy Principal at Brisbane State High School between 2003 – 2011.
As a teacher, Mr Walker has taught in independent and state schools across a range of diverse locations – Winton, Longreach, Capella, Indooroopilly and Balmoral.
Dan’s three children have all attended Canterbury College, with his two eldest children graduating Year 12 in 2021 and 2023.
