2026 LMusA with Distinction | George Li

Congratulations to George Li on receiving his LMusA with Distinction in Cello at the AMEB Queensland 2026 Performance and Awards Ceremony, held at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University on Friday 6 March.

The LMusA (Licentiate in Music, Australia) is widely regarded as one of the most demanding practical music qualifications offered by AMEB, with a national success rate often cited at around 10%, and is recognised as a professional-level accreditation in music. To receive the award with Distinction is rarer still.

At the ceremony, George was also the sole recipient of the Australian Strings Association Queensland Strings Award, an award also received in 2024 by his brother Haydn Li (2025 Arts Captain).

It is remarkable to note that all members of Canterbury’s Trio Bellissimo – Haydn, Isabella, and George – have now been invited to perform at this ceremony across recent years, an exceptionally rare distinction for members of the same chamber ensemble.

George studies cello with Canterbury’s cello and double bass teacher, Ms Yoon Bee Jee.
