2026 World Ready Futures Expo Opens Pathways for Years 9 and 10

Last week, Canterbury College hosted the World Ready Futures Expo, welcoming more than 30 organisations, universities, industry professionals and Alumni to engage with our Years 9 and 10 students.

The Expo provided students with the opportunity to explore a diverse range of pathways, spanning health, engineering, aviation, trades, business, law, creative industries, education and elite sport. Across the day, students participated in interactive sessions, hands-on experiences and panel discussions designed to give a genuine insight into life beyond school.

A key feature of this year’s Expo was the breadth and depth of panel conversations, where students heard directly from professionals working across a wide range of industries. From health and medical pathways through to engineering, construction, business, emergency services and the creative industries, each session offered practical advice, honest reflections and real-world perspective .

Students were encouraged to ask questions, explore different directions and reflect on the many pathways available to them. Conversations focused not only on career outcomes, but on the importance of adaptability, ongoing learning and being open to change, reinforcing that pathways are rarely linear and often evolve over time.

The inclusion of Alumni alongside industry professionals added an important layer of connection, allowing students to see what is possible beyond Canterbury and to hear firsthand how different journeys can unfold.

At Canterbury, preparing students to be World Ready means equipping them with both the knowledge and the confidence to navigate an ever-changing future. The Futures Expo plays an important role in this, creating space for exploration, curiosity and informed decision-making at a pivotal stage in each student’s journey.

We extend our sincere thanks to all presenters, partners and Alumni who contributed their time and expertise to make the day such a valuable experience for our students.
