Cantabile Choir: Festival of Voices Tour
We are immensely proud of the members of our Cantabile Choir, who recently travelled to Hobart to participate in the 20th Anniversary Festival of Voices.
Festival highlights included:
- Performing at iconic locations such as St David’s Cathedral, the IXL Atrium, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Salamanca Markets, Hobart City Hall, the Convict Church at Port Arthur, and Lost Freight Café
- Attending concerts and events, including the renowned Big Sing
- Joining with youth choirs from around Australia and Spain to perform massed choral items
- Participating in a vocal workshop with the acclaimed German vocal ensemble, Sjaella
Alongside their musical commitments, the girls also enjoyed exploring Hobart and its surrounds.
Highlights included visiting the bustling Salamanca Markets, Constitution Dock, and the Mawson’s Huts Replica Museum.
A day trip to the historic site of Port Arthur and an excursion to kunanyi/Mt Wellington, where the girls delighted in a little snow, which offered memorable experiences beyond the stage.
On our final morning, we explored the charming village of Richmond, famous for its heritage-listed stone bridge (and its tricky hedge maze, where a few girls almost got lost!).
The choir gave beautiful performances in a variety of settings, from relaxed open-air markets to the reverent atmosphere of a cathedral, with students receiving many compliments for their talent along the way.
A particularly special moment was reconnecting with a former Cantabile member (2005–2007), who now lives in Hobart and attended our performance at St David’s Cathedral.
