2025 Year 10 Start-Up Business Showcase
Canterbury College’s Year 10 Start-Up Business students transformed the Tech Deck into a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation, proudly presenting their business ventures to industry professionals, parents, and the wider College community.
Our talented emcees, Ethan Park and Lucy Johnson, set the tone for the event with an honest and inspiring reflection on their Start-Up journey.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect when I selected a new class called Start-Up. This subject is different from our other school subjects. I quickly learned that it’s a practical course that challenges us to start and manage our own small business. We’re still in the early stages of our journey and are seeking advice and feedback on our next steps. We began with a deep dive into business and start-up culture and were encouraged to create a business based on a personal problem or passion. As teenagers with many other commitments, it’s important that we care deeply about the problem our business is solving.”
A major highlight of the event was watching three standout student businesses pitch their ideas live on stage:
- Dekota Henwood, founder of Delou
- Riley Morgan and Lincoln Crooks, co-founders of Bass Buster Lures
- Harmanpreet Dharan, founder of Luxe Threadz
These students were nominated by their peers as most deserving of the opportunity, and we congratulate them on their confident and compelling presentations.
A special thank you to our guest speakers who joined the Entrepreneurs Panel – Mr Joshua McHugh from Future Anything and Canterbury alumnus Mr Michael Cross – for generously sharing their insights and experiences.
Congratulations Year 10 students for showcasing your creativity, innovation and passion.
