2024 Canterbury Alumni Network Year 12 Graduation Breakfast & Final Chapel Service | Event Wrap & Photo Gallery
With their external exams finally over, our relieved and happy Year 12 cohort reconvened with a large number of their teachers, co-curricular coordinators, Senior School Management and College Executives, over a buffet breakfast today in the Canterbury Functions Centre.
The annual Canterbury Alumni Network Year 12 Graduation Breakfast and Final Chapel Service officially begins the Year 12s’ last three days of school, before the evening’s Valedictory Dinner and Friday’s College Guard Of Honour and major Graduation Ceremony.
Among the 145 guests were Canterbury alumni and current teachers Mr Nick Gillin and Mr Andrew Porter, plus two other graduated luminaries who were both past School Captains, in Mr William Boyd (Class of 2000) and Mr William Glass (Class of 2017 – and that year’s School Dux).
Each graduating student received a native seedling gift at breakfast, as a living reminder of their time at Canterbury, plus a bookmark containing the College Prayer at the Final Chapel Service hosted by College Chaplain Father Dan Talbot, with his inspiring words for the outgoing Seniors.
The Alumni Guest Speaker was Year 2000 School Captain Mr William Boyd who spoke about resilience, perseverance and self-belief in the big wide world, and how Canterbury College will always remain the students’ schooling ‘home’ and the origins of their future friendship ‘tribe’.
During 2024, various Year 12s attending the breakfast reached their Red and Silver Colours.
So they deservedly received their certificates and acknowledgments from the Head of Senior School Mrs Rebecca Adamson and their respective Heads of House to conclude this first event before chapel.
Finally, a big ‘thank you’ to our wonderful staff and student caterers for all their hard work preparing and serving breakfast, and to our student musicians for coming in and performing during the meal.
Our ‘Class Of 2024’ is invited to join Canterbury’s Private Alumni Facebook Group with 2,168 members today and growing – FB GROUP LINK
