Official Commissioning Of Father Dan Talbot As Our Canterbury College Chaplain
This morning at our Chapel of the Good Shepherd, we held a special service Commissioning Father Dan Talbot as our new Canterbury College Chaplain. ✝️
Father Dan started with us on-campus at the beginning of Term 3, but has been a regular (and most welcome!) Canterbury visitor over the years – attending our various chapel services, from his local Jimboomba Parish.
He has already been playing a significant role in our Religious and Values Education (RaVE) Program, and been a strong voice of inclusion – connecting students from all faith perspectives, into one reflective community founded on our shared values.
Today Father Dan received his official Commissioning Licence from the Archbishop to serve and mentor here at Canterbury College.
The ceremony itself was hosted by Bishop John Roundhill and attended by the local Logan Anglican Deanery with their special guests, and Father Dan’s close friends from the Jimboomba Parish.
Father Dan was also presented with symbolic gifts from our student leaders who delivered readings and the intercessions.
Mrs Alisha Richardson and Ruby Fay gave a special Acknowledgement of Country, Principal Mr Dan Walker read out the Gospel, and special thanks to Dr Katrina Peddell, Mr Tim Li and their String Quartet of Areen Lee, Haydn Li, George Li and Kate Stone for their beautiful musical accompaniment.
Thanks to all the staff and student leaders from both the Junior School and Secondary School, and the community guests who attended this morning.
And welcome aboard (super officially) Father Dan Talbot!
PS: Our College Chaplain’s Office is located at the Corporate Services Main Admin Building – with his clearly signed front door via the rear Secondary Library side entrance.
Please drop by or say hello if you see Father Dan around the campus, or make an appointment with him if you need a more in-depth chat.
