2022 Volleyball Queensland Junior Schools Cup | Years 7 & 8 Competition: 21-23 October – FULL Results
From Friday to Sunday, we competed at the 2022 Volleyball Queensland Junior Schools Cup, held at various venues across the Gold Coast – including the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre and the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre (Carrara).
This tournament was for Years 7-8 Queensland school students, where a total of 225 teams were entered across the two age groups.
It was a great event for our Year 7 volleyball teams – our youngest Taipans volleyballers.
They have never been involved in a competition of this magnitude, and they experienced a completely different level of volleyball to their regular TAS competition.
Our Year 7s came up against some quality opponents and stuck it to them until the very last point.
Congratulations to all our Year 7 volleyball players on their debut Volleyball Queensland competition!
I hope this has inspired you to pursue volleyball in the coming years…
Our Year 8 Boys Volleyball team competed in Division 1, proving that they were a force to be reckoned with.
Two very close and hard-fought matches on Saturday saw them advance to the Semi-Final on Sunday morning.
They saved the best for last, winning the Semi-Final against the Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology (QASMT), and then the Grand Final against Cannon Hill Anglican College (CHAC) in straight sets!
Congratulations to Brayden Roos who was also named as the MVP of the Tournament among the Year 8 Division 1 teams.
Well done to Coach Casey Milne and his team, on an incredible, undefeated journey.
Plus a huge ‘thank you’ to our coaching and support staff – Yurii, Terence, Casey, Mrs Yvette Peterson and Mrs Debbie Milne – for coaching and helping guide our teams.
Thank you as well to our 2023 Volleyball Captains, Jeremy and Ava-Grace, for their support throughout the long weekend.
Our captains gave up their time to inspire, educate, support and nurture our Year 7s for their first ever competition.
A massive congratulations and well done to all!
Regards,
Mr Andrew Porter
