2024 Canterbury College Christmas Appeal | Supporting Anglicare Southern Queensland
A message from our College Chaplain Father Dan Talbot…
Entering the Christmas season, a time of joy, reflection and giving, we have the chance to extend our generosity to those in need.
This year, we are partnering with Anglicare Southern Queensland for our 2024 Canterbury College Christmas Appeal.
Anglicare is a very highly respected charity with over 150 years’ experience providing care and support to vulnerable Queenslanders.
As part of the Anglican Church, Anglicare actively helps those in need, including children in foster care, the elderly, and individuals facing serious hardships.
They live their mission daily through compassionate support, helping the most vulnerable live with dignity and hope.
So we invite you to donate gifts for children in foster care, by placing them under the Christmas trees located in our ELC, Junior School, or Senior School Administration buildings from next week starting Tuesday 29 October.
We are accepting a wide variety of items including:
- Gift Vouchers for Target, Big W, Myer, Woolworths, Coles and the Dreamworld, Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild Theme Parks.
- Gift Vouchers for music, clothing stores and video games
- Non-perishable Christmas food items and Christmas-themed treats
- Board games, LEGO, building blocks, puzzles and activity books
- Gift Vouchers for movie tickets and books
- Sporting equipment – including bikes, scooters and skateboards
- Toys for all age groups.
Please Note: All gifts must be…
- Labelled for Anglicare Southern Queensland
- Brand new, unopened and unused
- Unwrapped, or wrapped in clear cellophane so the contents are visible.
Our Years 8 and 9 students will also pack food items into hampers for families to enjoy during the Christmas season.
For many children in foster care, Christmas can be a difficult time filled with uncertainty.
Your donations will bring joy and hope to these children, showing them that they are genuinely cared for by their local community and not forgotten.
Thank you in advance for sharing the true spirit of Christmas.

A message from Anglicare…
“Christmas is a time for giving and sharing joy with loved ones.
It’s a time for giving, a time for reflection, and a time for hope.
Across our services, we have many clients who won’t have friends or family to spend the festive season with.
Clients, who will struggle to provide their children with a Christmas meal, let alone presents or activities these holidays.
You can help make this Christmas bright for someone in need.
By donating a gift, you are letting them know they are not alone.”
